47th Beds & Northants Congress was held over the weekend 9th and 10th September 2017.

Murchie-Lerner Trophy

Congratulations to Andrew Bisson and Sue Cooke who were the highest ranked Northants pair in the Northants Blue Point Swiss Pairs event held on 19th August 2017. Click Results section for full details.

The county entered a team for the Tollemache Cup which is the inter-county championships for teams of eight. The qualifying round was held in November 2016. Links to the EBU results are here and here. Mike Trask has also written the attached here.

A great day for Northants! Our One Day Green Point Event was won by Susan & Jim Deacon (4th and 5th from left), second were Maggie Jones & Eifion Jones (left), joint third were Ufuk Cotuk & Robert Miller (3rd and 6th from left).

Bugbrooke Mentored Teams 21st May 2016

Three teams entered the friendly improvers' event. Chris and Eddie Luck each led a team and Jim Bainbridge was non playing mentor to the third. Well done to Chris' team for a win and very well done to all who took part.

Garden Cities Regional Finals 7th May 2016

Congratulations to the Kettering (representing Northants) team of:

Keith Nash, Simon Few, Mike Trask, Daniel Baines, Mark Hodgson, Chris Wormleighton, Tony Hough, John Walshaw.

They came second in the Garden Cities Regional Final held at Peterborough on 7th May.

This meant that they qualified for the National Final in June which was challenging.

They go forward to represent Northamptonshire in the Corwen.

Ranked masters Feb/March 2015

Ranked Master is a group of pairs championships for which an appropriate EBU Masters Point Rank is needed to enter.

This year Robert Miller and Daniel Baines won the Grand Masters Pairs - congratulations. See link for details.

Alastair Brodie Trophy 12th April 2015

The Alastair Brodie was held at Kettering Bridge Club starting with pairs in the afternoon followed by teams in the evening.

NICKO Plate late 2014

The NICKO Plate - the 'consolation' competition for teams losing in the early rounds of the National Inter Club Knock Out.

Northampton lost to Burnham B in the final,

Well done to Ross Stacey, John Josephs, Leszek Lubaszewski, Malcolm Orr-Ewing and Trevor Wray.

Porch Trophy 7th December 2014

The Porch Trophy was held on 7th December at Kettering BC.

The club was packed, amd after a hard fought competition, the overall winners were Tony Hough and Robert Miller.

Lakeland and Kettering Trophies 26th October 2014

Congratulations to the Kettering team of eight who won the Lakeland Trophy  - Mike Trask, Mark Tilley, Tim Durdin, Daniel Baines, Colin Porch, Amy Cherry, Simon Few and Keith Nash.

Congratulations also to Marlene Jones, David Banks, Doreen Simpson and Allan Coker from Stamford who won the Kettering Trophy.

Northamptonshire Blue Pointed Swiss Pairs 2nd August 2014

The Northamptonshire Murchie-Lerner Trophy was held at 1pm in Stamford Bridge Club.

The results can be found in "Results" - congratulations to the winners!

The format was Swiss Pairs, 7x7 board matches to take place in 2 sessions.

The event was open to all pairs although the trophy was awarded to to the highest placed mixed pair.

Also Blue Points are awarded in line with national criteria and spot prizes will be given to highest scoring pair in each round.

 

National Inter Counties League Finals 7th July 2014

With the wins in Eastern Counties League, Northamptonshire did very well to get both the A Team and the B Team into the National Inter Counties League Final held on Sunday 7th July 2014.

The B Team ( Colin Porch & Amy Cherry, Eifion Jones & Richard Gibson, John Josephs & Ross Stacey, Malcolm Orr-Ewing & Leszek Lubaszewski) were second after Lancashire B - congratulations!

The A Team were not so successful but put in a valiant effort (Berry & Graham Hedley, Mark Tilley & Mike Trask, Jim Deacon & Robert Miller, Tim Durdin & Mark Hodgson).

Porch Trophy a SWISS Pairs event held by Kettering Bridge Club 1st December 2013

Congratulations to Tony Hough and Tim Durdin who won the Porch Trophy Competition held at the club on Sunday 1 December 2013.
Well done also to Johnnie Powell and Alex Murison who won the prize for being the leading improvers.
