Controlling your Data
The club holds information about you in its data bases – this is for “legitimate interests” needed to run the club. The typical information held is your name and address, telephone number(s), Email address, EBU number and ranking.
With the General Data Protection Regulations coming into force on 25th May 2018 the club needs your “consent” to use your data for other than “legitimate interests”.
For example a typical reason for passing your data to others is when members want phone numbers or Emails to contact you on bridge matters. Without consent this information cannot be disclosed.
To prevent members accessing your data the settings in the Bridgewebs Member Area have been changed to “Opt Out”.
That is a blanket “Opt Out” has been put in place blocking mass Emails from the club to you and stopping other members from seeing your information.
If you want to consent to other club members seeing your details or consent to the club including you in mass Emails generated in Bridgewebs you will need to log into the Members Only area, go to the account settings and tick the relevant boxes. This is a simple process.
Guidance can be provided on the log in process to the Members Only area (ask Ross Stacey).
(See the club data policy which explains how data is used and click on this page to go to the EBU page explaining the term “consent”)
