Welcome to New Glasgow DBC
We moved...

Effective October 30, 2017, we have moved our club to the basement of the Sharon St. John's church in Stellarton...just down the street from where we used to be.  It's far more spacious; so bring all your friends when you come to play.

Inter Club Championship

Thgere's a big game on November 6 at 7:00 p.m.  Many clubs from across our district will be playing in this inter club championship.  The game differs from a ST@C in that ST@Cs measure your results by the percentage you make at your club (against the percentages other pairs make at their clubs).  The Inter Club game measures your scores on each hand across all participants at all clubs.  Should be fun...$4.00 per player...

Skunked by the Lions

Another successful day of bridge in Pictou County...the annual Lion and Skunk game was held this year in the Town of Pictou with Colchester County taking on Pictou County with some of our friends from Antigonish helping out.  The recent tradition of the host club generously losing to the visitors was duplicated again this year.  Colchester skunked the bjeepers out of us, as you can see from the results.  While Pictou County's best team scored more than any other team, Colchester womped Pictou County by an alarming (I can't count that high) amount overall.  We look forward to the tournament next year.  Everyone had a blast!!!  Congratulations to all participants, but we will be beating the participants off Colchester next year - the gauntlet has been thrown down...

A big thank you to Audrey MacGillivary and Margaret Ann Dodson whose team did a wonderful job organizing the event.  Kudos also to Julie Small for getting Colchester's team organized.  And many thanks to Boyd Wells who was the Director for the event...

How we Stacked Up...

The week of October 16 to 22 was District One's ST@C week.  Our club showed it could be stacked up against any other.  Here are the incredible results (these points include the ones won at the club level):

Monday evening (55.5 tables across the district)

Overall Position       Team                                       MasterPoints

1st                           Charlie Fortune and Ron O'Brien        12.38

2nd                         Doug Walters and Doug Roberts           9.29

4th                         Maryjane Smith and Helen Gerrior        5.22

16th                       Herb Watters and Bill Knoll                   0.69

Tuesday Afternoon (113 tables)

7th                        Charlie Fortune and Jean Stensrud          6.09

10th                      Gordon Yound and AndrewDouglas       3.43

26th                      Susan Totten and Herb Watters               1.18

Friday Afternoon (41.5 tables)

2nd                       Claire Osgood and JeanHopton               7.31

And in the middle of all this, teams from New Glasgow came first and second in a team event in Truro on Thursday evening.  The team of Margaret Ann Dodson, Audrey Forrest, Gordon Young, and Allister Fraser won all four of their matches including the final against the second place team of Doug Walters, Doug Roberts, Charlie Fortune and Ron O'Brien.  The Dodson team took home 3.3 Masterpoints while the Fortune team took home 2.48.

A resoundingly successful week for our club members.  Congratulations to all.
