| Newbury Bridge Club Charity Night Friday 14th August 2015 |
This year's Charity Night went very well and was enjoyed by all. £1200 was raised in aid of
the NBC Charity The Bus of Hope. Our thanks go to all those involved with the organisation of the evening.
First prize for the Rubber Bridge went to Nicola Foster and David Barratt.

Monday 27th July 2015. Nicola & John Foster, Cathy & Brian Medhurst beat Eleanor Rice
& Stuart Strachan, Joan & Peter Cherrett 74-45 in the final of the RTH Teams Duplicate competition.

In a very tight finish Cathy and Brian Medhurst beat Jill Vaughan and Madeline Lawson by 30 pts in the final of the Edie Gurr Round the Houses Rubber Competition on Wed 17th June. Congratulations to them. For final table go to Competition Tables 2015.

| Anne Gilks |
We are very sad to announce that Anne Gilks died on Friday 15th May. Anne and her husband Howard have enjoyed playing bridge regularly at Newbury Bridge Club since joining a couple of years ago and have made many friends at the Club. Our thoughts are with her family and especially Howard at this time. Anne's funeral is at 2:45, Monday 1st June, at Basingstoke Crematorium, and afterwards at the house in Overton.

| Barry Walker |
The Club was also very sad to hear that Barry Walker died at the weekend. Whilst he only played once a month he was a very popular member, and we offer our condolences to all the family. The funeral will be held at Thatcham Crematorium on the 29th May 2015 at 3pm. Please be aware the family will not be accepting flowers and respectfully ask for donations to Diabetes UK and the BHF

| Southern Salver 22nd March 2015 |
 This year's Southern Salver was won by Eileen Barratt. Well done Eileen! Runner-up was Andrew Chapman.That's pretty good too Andrew! Nicola Foster coming 3rd, Molly Smith 4th and Phil Hickman 5th also deserve congratulation.
Everyone enjoyed the afternoon. Thanks go to Ann McMahon for directing, John Foster for scoring and to John Harland and Jackie Woods and the rest of their team for providing an excellent tea.

Cyril Gamalatge died on Friday February 27th, 2015. Always the gallant gentleman, Cyril had been a member of Newbury Bridge Club for several years.

| Judith Dear |
Judy Dear, wife of Roger, died on Friday 20th February. Judy who has played at both No Fear and Improvers was also a member of one of this year's RTH teams. She enjoyed her bridge and it is a very sad loss.

We have recently received the sad news of the death of Richard Beverley on September 10th 2015. He was a friendly and popular member of the Club for many years playing both rubber and duplicate.

| New Year Party 2015 |
This was another very successful evening enjoyed by all. Richard Bungey was once again our host. There was the usual quiz, a best tie competition and for the first time a 'heads or tails' competitition for the ladies. The food was excellent and our thanks go to the staff of the Hilton Hotel, to Richard and to Judy Bungey who did so much of the organisation. Our thanks also go to others, Martin & Janet Osgood, David Barratt, Nicola Foster and John Harland among them, who helped with the arrangements.
