County Events & Local Charity Events

If you're interested in what might be going on outside the club go to County Calendar / Events on the menu to find out what events are being run by Berks & Bucks, Hants/ IoW, and the Chiltern League. Also see Local Charity bridge Events.

Convention Cards

A reminder from the  directors: If you are playing anything but very basic ACOL you and your partner both require the same printed convention card available for perusal by your opponents. The easiest way to achieve this is to download a card from the EBU by clicking  HERE  You can then modify it to your own system. If you are unable to download one for any reason there are also now some blank convention cards in the cupboard in the playing room.

Club History and Winners
General Information about the club

The club was formed in November 1953 by Emily Southern and a group of like-minded bridge players including Olga Lacock. First sessions were held at the Tudor Cafe (later to become the Golden Egg Restaurant). Since then, the club has gone from strength to strength currently having more than 190 members.

Rubber bridge is as important to the club as duplicate, and Monday evenings are always rubber bridge events.

A number of special events take place each year including a New Year's Bridge Drive Party and a Charity Bridge Drive.

We are keen to help people to take up bridge. We organise bridge lessons at the club. Once you have learned to play, you can come along to the Thursday "No Fear" bridge sessions where you can practise your skills with others who are in the same position. Some tuition is available at these sessions. Rubber bridge evenings are very sociable events where the emphasis is on enjoying the company of other bridge players as much as the bridge itself. On at least one evening per month, we have special "hosted" evenings where single players are provided with partners and the emphasis is on newcomers to duplicate bridge. We have five more formal club competitions which take place on the other Tuesdays and Thursdays. Finally, there are two annual competitions where teams meet and play matches in each others' houses either as a knock out or a league event
