Morden Ruffians Bridge Club

Morden Ruffians is a friendly duplicate bridge club, meeting on Wednesdays with a 7:30 start time. We started in 2002 as keen learners on Jean Warren's course and have developed into a thriving club with members from near and far (covering 4 counties). New members are assured of a friendly welcome and an enjoyable evening's bridge. We have themed training sessions on the 5th Wednesday of the month (usually 4 times a year).

The Morden Ruffians are affiliated to the English Bridge Union.

Steeple Morden Village Hall

The Morden Ruffians have moved to a new venue at Steeple Morden Village Hall.

The address is: 29 Hay Street, Steeple Morden, Royston, SG8 0PD.

Web Site

This is our official website. Peter Rice is the current webmaster.

Please send suggestions for new content, and have a browse through the pages. Members are able to view pages that are not public. To see the "members only" pages click on the link at top right. You will need the club password (ask the committee members) to register, then you can register using your email address and set your own password.

I would like to add some photographs to the club pages. If anyone has pictures from social events I would be happy to add them.

Bridge Etiquette

The committee would like to remind members to observe the EBU rules of Conduct and Etiquette at all times, especially the parts that say "bridge is an extremely enjoyable game", "make bridge enjoyable for yourself, partner and opponents" and "enjoy the company as well as the game". It must be fun if they say it three times!

Tea Duties

The duties of the volunteer for Teas:

Expenses for milk (2pts) and any coffee, tea or biscuits will be reimbursed by the treasurer (Clare). Normal table fees apply.

The League of Ruffians

Starting in 2012, we plan to arrange a friendly team competition with the aim of attracting a few new members.

Details are in the Members Only area, or you can contact Peter Rice (Play Director)

Forthcoming Events

The latest BridgeWebs update lets us show the Director and the TeaPerson. Hurrah!

We have a new rota for opening up ... please pick up the keys and lock up the week before, and arrive around 7pm to open up. Hand the keys to the next on the list.

If any entry is incorrect please contact Peter Rice.

Public Message Board
We have a new message board you can use to find a partner. The messages are public - they can be read without signing in as a member, so perhaps more people will read them.
