This is the third in a series of bridge hands played at local clubs. This hand was played on Saturday August 25th at the Monterey Bridge Centre. This hand features a complex slam auction. The trap is to avoid 3NT. The suggested auction is shown. The bidding is explained below.
West has normal 1♠ opening. East has a normal 2♦ response. West should rebid 3♣ as the normal spot to play with a minor suit fit is 3NT. If west hand contains a heart stopper and a minimum hand the rebid of 3NT would end the auction. If the west hand was ♠xx ♥ Ax ♦ AKQJxx ♣ xxx the rebid would be 3NT.
