JoAnn Jackson - Bridge Teacher - Bio

Although I was born in Toronto, I spent most of my adult years in the Midland area. I taught elementary school in both Midland and Penetanguishene and I retired in 2005.

I started to play bridge with my family when I was 10 years old. I played casually for many years. However, everything changed when I joined the Midland Duplicate Bridge Club (now the Midland Bridge Club) in 1990 and then the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League) in 1991. It took me almost 10 years to get my 1st 100 Masterpoints**. I now have over 1800 pts and I am certified club director. Over the years I have travelled to play in tournaments in Canada and the United States. My husband and I have also travelled to England and Europe to play bridge.

I have taught lessons to all levels of players over the years. Bridge continues to be a major part of my life and I love to share my knowledge and experience.

** Masterpoints: If you become a member of the ACBL and play well at ACBL sanctioned duplicate games and you will be awarded a prize: masterpoints, the coin of the duplicate bridge realm. Masterpoints appeal to members because it allows them to track their growth in the game by achieving new ranks on their way to becoming a Life Master.
