Lady Connell Knockout Teams
Lady Connell/Cheshire Salver

The Lady Connell Cup and its consolation event the Cheshire Salver are knockout events for teams of four, held in informal venues. The winning team is invited to represent the county in the Pachabo Cup (click here for information about the next Pachabo.)

The cost to enter a team in the Lady C is only £24 per team, for which you are guaranteed at least two matches.

It really is a most enjoyable contest, playing bridge of a high standard. But please don't be put off entering a team because you don't think you'll win. The experience is worth more than a whole year of bridge lessons! (No offence to our wonderful bridge teachers in the county!)

Entries should be emailed to Julian Merrill (click on the heading to send an email), giving the names of the team members, their EBU numbers, and the captain's contact details. You can have up to 6 players in your squad although only four can play in each match.

If you've never considered a competition of this calibre before but would like to give it a try, you could consider entering the Cheshire Salver direct (details on this will follow later in the year).  You can express your interest to Julian in advance.

Lady Connell Knockout Teams
IMPORTANT CHANGES

With effect from September 2013, this event became a straight knock-out from the start with no qualifying rounds. As previously, all teams are guaranteed at least two matches: teams losing their first match receive automatic entry into the consolation event The Cheshire Salver.  However, a bye in the first round of the Lady Connell no longer constitutes a win. A team will qualify for the Salver if they lose the first match they play even if this is actually in the second round. As a result of this, the draw for the Cheshire Salver will not be made until after 31 January, when the second round matches will be played, including those who had a bye in the first round. The entry fee has been reduced to £24.

This is our main County Teams event and the winners become our representatives in the EBU Pachabo Cup. For further information, please email Barbara Serres
