Howard Cup

Thanks to all who competed for this cup.

Congratulations to Eunice and Derek on being this year's winners.

Headlines from Committee meeting

There were 2 key things from the meeting.

There have been increases in the costs of running the club and we made a loss in the last quarter. Attendance has been rising and we think that if we make the Table money £3, with free Tea or Coffee for all, we can balance the books. This will be effective from Monday 6th March 2017

The second thing is that there have been some ocassions recently when we have finished later than 10.30.  To finish on time requires us to spend only 7 minutes per hand, on average. This means that we must each do all we can to ensure that the boards are played speedily. Thank you.

Teaching Bridge for Beginners

The English Bridge Union teacher training programme in March is now full.

George Wise and Gregory Knopp are attending from our club. We will keep you posted after the event.

Our Friday evenings are still run on a less formal basis to ease the less expert into the game via informal tuition. Anyone interested in playing or observing should telephone the club's secretary Derek on 01634 840094 or drop in on one of Club evenings.

Partner for Brian Cameron

Brian Cameron has been rather poorly for the last couple of months but is now back almost to full strength.

He has re-joined the club and is looking for a regular partner.

If you would like to partner Brian on a regular basis, please call him on 01634 841216 . He does not have an email address.

Looking for a partner on Tuesdays or Fridays

The find a Partner facility is now working. If you want to see who is looking for a partner, just click on the NEW link on the left hand side called "Find a Partner".

The bad news is that only those members who have completed the new membership forms, available from committee members, can say that they are looking for a partner, although anyone can contact people looking for partrners.

You will first need to sign in in the members area,  accessed through the link above. This requires a valid email address listed under you in the membership section

Then you will need to set a password by clicking on the "Forgotten Password " link.

Set your own password. WE DO NOT KNOW THIS AND CANNOT TELL YOU WHAT IT IS, so please remember it.

If your email address is not on the system, you will need to get in touch with a Committee member (contact details on the information page) .
