LOCKSWOOD BRIDGE CLUB

Minutes of 27th Annual General Meeting held on

Friday 15th June 2012 at St Mary's Church Hall Warsash

 

1.    Apologies from Terry Garvey John Jones Lesley Bolam Jean & Alan Wilford.

2.    The Chairman welcomed those present.  He thanked those on the committee for their hard work

3.    2011 AGM minutes had been displayed on the notice board and on the Club’s website. No comments on inaccuracies. Jean Pike proposed, Keith Palmer seconded, carried. They were signed as a true record

4.    Matters arising There were none.

5.    Secretary’s Report The Secretary reported that we held successful Annual Club Handicap and David Hague Trophies during the year.  The revised new membership scheme had worked well.

Long standing members Jill Howard Williams and Alma Newbury had passed away during the year, Alma being a founder member and served on the Committee. Also Lesley Bolam was not renewing her membership for health reasons. Tribute was paid for her work on the Club Committee.                                                                                                             Thanks to John and Keith for providing such a quick results service on the Club website.  Again thanks to John & Jean Pettet who lay out the tables and chairs and to Terry for providing Club completing results throughout the year. John Langston continued by saying that thanks was due to all fellow committee members and helpers for making his job easy.

John Pettet had been Chair for 5 years and had recently expressed a desire to take a step back in the club. Secretary asked that all members should seriously consider who they would like as their future chair.

                                                        

6.    Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer presented the accounts which showed a bank & cash balance of £992 up £208 on the previous year.  The Club's table money for the year was broadly the same but outgoings had gone down mainly due to a reduction in Christmas and AGM expenditure. Gerald confirmed that the annual subscription would be £5 and that the table money would be £1, visitors £2 and joining fee £5 plus annual sub would remain the same. Club records did not show all current addresses and when annual Subs were collected, an amendment form should be completed. It would assist if email addresses could be given so that AGM notices would avoid postal charges.    Trevor Robinson proposed Harold Scott seconded that the accounts be adopted and meeting assented. Gerald said that the records were on hand for Bill Boswell to audit but he was not present. Keith Palmer volunteered his services. carried by the meeting.

The Club Trophy was won by Ann White and Christine Taylor for 2011/12.  Runners up Ken French & Keith Palmer, 3rd place Brian Stapleton and Celia Carter. David Haigh Trophy winners Mac Lowcock & Karen Dewar.

 

10. Any other business                                                                                                 

A vote of thanks was proposed by Keith Palmer for the work done by all the other officers of the Club.                                                                                              The Meeting was concluded at 7.25pm

Minutes of 26th Annual General Meeting held on

Friday 24th June 2011 at St Mary's Church Hall Warsash

 

1. Apologies from Gerald Ingram, John Jones, Peter Francis, Ken French, Brian Stapleton, Celia Carter

2. The Chairman welcomed those present. He thanked those on the committee for their hard work and also thanks to his wife Jean for all her hard work and support. Especially remembered were Jill Howard Williams and Alma Newbury, long standing supporters of the Club who were not well. Speedy recovery wished for them.

3. 2010 AGM minutes accuracy. Jean proposed, Keith Palmer seconded, carried. They were signed as a true record

4. There were no matters arising.

5. The Secretary reported a less eventful year with just one AGM to organise. We held successful Annual Club Handicap and David Hague Trophies during the year and a national simultaneous in January. Thanks to Lesley Bolam for sorting out partners earlier in the year - a role taken over by Jean Pike and Lesley again and Jean Pike for providing refreshments.

New members will no longer have to wait until AGM to join Club. New members need to complete an application form. On payment of entry fee and annual subs they will become temporary members until full membership is confirmed in writing by Secretary. No new rule changes needed as it was not amended in 2010. Revised visitors/non members table money is £2. The Secretary said that a particular vote of thanks should be given to the Chairman, John & Jean Pettet who weekly lay out the tables and chairs and considering the minutia of the Club constitution.

6. In the Treasurers absence, John Langston presented the accounts which showed a bank & cash balance of £784, down £19 on the previous year. The Club's table money had reduced (one week due to cold weather) but outgoings had also reduced during the accounting period namely EBU masterpoints, EBU club subscription and administration. John said that Gerald had confirmed that the annual subscription would be £5 and that the table money would be £1, visitors back up to £2 as mentioned and joining fee £5 plus annual sub would remain the same. No waive of table money at AGM or Christmas Party. Club records did not show all current addresses and when annual Subs were collected, an amendment form should be completed. It would assist if email addresses could be given so that AGM notices would avoid postal charges. Mike Oxenham proposed that the accounts be adopted and meeting assented. Mike also mentioned about auditors. John said that Gerald had sought a volunteer from the Club without success. Bill Boswell volunteered his services. carried by the meeting.

8. The Club Trophy was presented to Bill & Barbara Boswell who won it for 2010/11. Runners up Peter Aubeck & Terry Garvey, 3rd place Mac Lowcock & Karen Dewar.
