Board 8: Passive Defence Does Best |
Show Detail |
Some Declarers were allowed to make 10 tricks. If the defence start by cashing ♣ A K they set up the Club suit for Declarer to draw trumps, then discard a losing Spade on Dummy's fourth Club.
Better to lead a trump. This gives South a chance to signal for a Spade lead. When Declarer plays Clubs, North should take the ♣ A on the first round and lead the requested Spade thus robbing Declarer of the chance to get the losing Spade away and limiting him or her to nine tricks.
