West must not return a Diamond. West can see 5 Diamonds in Dummy and another 5 in her own hand. The ♦ J looks like top of two so Declarer only started with one. A Diamond return would be a gift to Declarer allowing them to discard a loser.
Better to cash ♣ AK then ♥ A. On the ♥ A East must encourage a Heart continuation which East will win and then quietly wait to cash their ♠ Q when the time comes |
