Bd 13: LTC route to a Slam |
Show Detail |
Nobody bid this slam but it is biddable and 12 tricks are there for the taking.
When East opens 1♥ then West's Losing Trick Count of 5 suggests that 6♥ is possible. Assume East has a LTC=7 for their opening 1♥ bid then 18-12(7+5) = 6.
However the Losing Trick Count is not infallible so it is prudent to use Blackwood to check that two Aces aren't missing before bidding 6♥ .
Not everyone made 12 tricks. Can you see the winning line?

As always count your losers. In this case you have 5 - all in Diamonds, assuming Trumps break 2-2 that is.
There is nothing you can do about the first so you need Trumps to break 2-2. When they do you play to dump one Diamond loser on the ♠ K and dump two on the ♣ KQ. You can then trump the last Diamond in Dummy giving you twelve tricks. |
