NEW FRANK WHITE TROPHY

Members may be aware that the Frank White Trophy rounds in April and May were cancelled because they fell below the minimum of 5 full tables for club competitions.

These rounds are re-scheduled for Thursday 6th and Thursday 20th July.

The round held on Thursday 1st June stands as a qualifying round meaning members have potentially 12 rounds this year to achieve their best 7 scores, rather than the originally planned 11.

If any of the Frank White trophy rounds scheduled for the 6th July or 20th July fail to achieve 5 full tables those rounds will not be re-scheduled again. The round scheduled for 29th June can be re-scheduled for 13th July (Kidney Research Pairs) if needed.

Going forward any club competition or qualifying event which has to be cancelled in this way will automatically be re-scheduled 7 days later, wherever that is possible.

Looking for a Bridge partner?

Are you looking for a bridge partner for a particular occasion, or interested in finding a more long-term partnership?

Or a visitor looking for a one-off game?

Are you aware that both Elaine Proctor (01522 878059) and Janet Collins (01636 702030) are happy to try and help for any Lincoln sessions? Even if your regular partner is away, why not play with someone else? More pairs ensure every bridge session is better attended and more enjoyable for all.

Give Elaine or Janet a call or send an email.

NEW - NEARLY BUT NOT QUITE

The City of Lincoln team, who qualified for the Garden Cities Trophy Regional semi-final on Sunday 6th May, came very close to reaching the National final for the 2nd time in 4 years.

With 2 teams to qualify, from 9 counties represented, Lincoln came 3rd just 6 VPs behind 2nd spot. Even more galling was the team beat both the Cambridgeshire and Norfolk teams that did qualify. In fact the team didn't lose to any team apart from a 20-0 drubbing by Hertfordshire, who only finished 5th.

Good effort from the team captained by Nick Hunter and consisting of Ruby Schnalke, Chris Phillips, Alan Millington, Dennis Mellor, Debbie Burton, Maurice Lynn and John Hill.

Better luck next year.

How to help your Bridge Club

The Club always needs people to help run our bridge sessions. Members are asked if they can be available to train in dealing, computer scoring, or TD training. Please let a Committee member know if you can help. We especially need more volunteers for Mondays especially computer scoring, you will be helped to learn!
