New - Bainton Trophy

Congratulations to the following pairs who have qualified for the semi-final to be held at Dunholme on Sunday 4th February at 12.00pm. Can all pairs let either Glynn Elwick or Chris Phillips know their intention, or indicate via a notice placed on the notice board. Just a reminder that just because you qualify doesn't mean you have to play in the semi-final. It is always your choice. But if everyone were to play Lincoln would have excellent chances of filling spaces in the Final. You also cannot play if you have tried to qualify, and failed, at another club's Bainton heat if it was played before a Lincoln heat.

Monday 27th November: Alison & Andrew Howarth, Sheila Henry & Carol Smith, June Sleightholme & Elizabeth Mackay, John Longmuir & Alan Millington, Phil Batty & Bob Bolton, Maurice Lynn & Elaine Proctor, Edith Crawshaw & Kath Taylor

Weds 29th November: Tony Garland & Norman Rossiter, Roger & Margaret Shelley, Angela Child & Zara McIntyre, David & Sally Williams, Bill & Shirley Holmes, John Longmuir & Bill Crymble

Thursday 23rd November: Dennis Mellor & Debbie Burton, Maurice Lynn & John Hill, Nick Hunter & Ruby Schnalke, Peter Stern & Evelyn McPherson

Those who have qualified with more than 1 partner have some choices to exercise!

NEW - Club Competitions

There are a number of competition changes planned for the 2018 season to advise members:-

- The Frank White Trophy will be run for 12 rounds, with the December event taking place on the latest available playing date in December

- The '5 table minimum' rule will be dropped for the following competitions; Frank White, Gilbert Fry, all Sim Pairs and all Team Trophies

- Whilst the '5 table minimum' rule is retained for all Jubilee Trophy rounds, the number of qualifying rounds is reduced from 25 to 20

- A new Trophy, the Margot Blakeney Trophy, is being introduced for the top Handicap Pair over Wednesday afternoons during the calendar year. Indeed this will be awarded for 2017 in recognition of Margot Blakeney's contribution to Lincoln bridge club and her passion for the game

- The club is giving consideration to a competition to allow the top pairs in each of Monday, Wednesday and Thursday sessions (by annual average percentage) to play off in a session early in 2019, to determine an overall title of Champion Pair. We will consult on this in 2018 for further views.

Finally, the Club Trophies for 2017 will be presented to the new winners before bridge on Thursday 15th February. Can all members who currently hold trophies from 2016, please hand back to Janet Collins for engraving, early in the New Year.

Looking for a Bridge partner?

Are you looking for a bridge partner for a particular occasion, or interested in finding a more long-term partnership?

Or a visitor looking for a one-off game?

Are you aware that both Elaine Proctor (01522 878059) and Janet Collins (01636 702030) are happy to try and help for any Lincoln sessions? Even if your regular partner is away, why not play with someone else? More pairs ensure every bridge session is better attended and more enjoyable for all.

Give Elaine or Janet a call or send an email.

How to help your Bridge Club

The Club always needs people to help run our bridge sessions. Members are asked if they can be available to train in dealing, computer scoring, or TD training. Please let a Committee member know if you can help. We especially need more volunteers for Mondays especially computer scoring, you will be helped to learn!
