LEWES BRIDGE CLUB COMPETITION RULES

TUESDAY AND THURSDAY TEAMS

Both events will run from April to February on the 2nd Tuesday and Thursday respectively. All pairs need to play a minimum of 7 sessions to qualify. You are allowed to play with substitutes but only 2 of those results may count towards your final score.
Cross-imps scoring will be used if there is an odd number of tables. If teams are played then scoring will be by VPs. For each event if teams are played then each pair will get a points score based on the position achieved, i.e. if finishing 3rd then 3 points. If a pairs event is played with cross-imps scoring, then pairs finishing 1st and 2nd will score 1 point, pairs finishing 3rd and 4th will score 2 points and so on.
The winners will be the pair with the lowest overall score from their 7 best sessions.
Where possible the director will try to arrange different pairs and match stronger and weaker pairs to make up the teams.

TUESDAY PAIRS LADDER

This event will run from April to February on the 1st Tuesday of each month. All pairs need to play a minimum of 7 sessions to qualify. You are allowed to play with substitutes but only 2 of those results may count towards your final score. The winners will be the pair with the lowest overall score from their best 7 sessions.

TUESDAY AND THURSDAY HANDICAP PAIRS

The winners will be the pair with the highest score after adjusting for the handicap. For a regular pair the handicap will be calculated on the basis of their average score in the year to date as shown on the club website. For a pair who do not play together regularly their handicap will be calculated on their individual score to date. So if individual A has an average score of 46% and individual B an average score of 48%, then the handicap for pair A and B playing together will be +4 and +2 divided by 2 which equals +3. Players with an average score of over 50% will receive a minus handicap.

TUESDAY AND THURSDAY CHAMPIONSHIP PAIRS

The winners of each event will be the pair with the best cumulative score over the 2 sessions.
