Appeals & GDPR

In the event of a dispute relating to the play or result from a particular hand or of the conduct of any particular players at a club event, the issue should be raised first of all with the Director for the event.

If his decision is not accepted by all involved, a panel of three people including the director, a club officer and a further experienced player will be called together on the night of the event to resolve the issue.

All objections or appeals should be raised within 15 minutes of completion of the board in question.

The appeals committee is mandated by the club to uphold the club’s ethic that the camaraderie in the club is more important than strict adherence to the rules of EBU and whilst they should try to achieve the correct technical answer to the dispute, protection of the weaker players and pragmatism should assume a high priority.

Any solution arrived at by this panel is final and there will be no onward appeal except in those instances where the Club acts as host for external events.

It is part of the ethos of the Club, that a stronger player can rarely be deemed to have been harmed by a weaker player.

In the case of other matters which may give cause for complaint by club members whatever the cause, those matters will be referred to a full meeting of the Committee of LBBC who are empowered by the Club to act on their behalf in reaching an equitable solution and their decision will be final with no right to onward appeal.

Appeals Procedure

The committee recently had an issue which was amicably resolved but is keen to distance the Club from 'legal' risk and wishes also to promote the core value that we are a friendly club in which the care of emerging players is more important than the strict interpretation of the laws through which stronger players might seek to gain advantage.
