Constitution
CONSTITUTION

The constitution provides as follows:- 

 

  1. The name of the club is “The Ledbury Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club”. 
  2. The aim of the club is to provide facilities for members to play bridge socially and informally, with any formalities kept to a minimum. 
  3. The coordinators of the club are a serving team of members, who are elected annually. The team shall oversee the general running of the club in accordance with the accepted principles of the club. The team has powers to co opt other members to the team if it is thought necessary or appropriate. 
  4. Prospective members may join by invitation of the team. Members may be removed at the behest of the team. 
  5. That a maximum number of members may be determined by the team from time to time as appropriate. 
  6. To ensure sufficient funds the Ledbury Friday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club shall have a membership subscription fee, details of the subscription and associated finances affected are as follows: 
  7. Annual subscription shall be £5 per annum.
  8. Annual subscription shall start on or about July 01 each year.
  9. New members joining after 30 December may pay reduced subscription of £2.50.
  10. Table fees shall remain at £1.50 per person to members.
  11. Table fees for non members / Guests shall be £2.00.
  12. Non members / Guests may play for up to three sessions per year before being asked to pay membership fees. 
  13. Disposal of any excess of income over expenditure shall be determined by the team with the support of the membership. 
  14. Property belonging to the club shall be held for the sole use of the club unless exception is authorised by the team. 
  15. An annual General meeting of members shall take place on a date as agreed by the team. A chairman shall be designated from the team for each meeting. 
  16. An extraordinary general meeting may be called subject to reasonable notice, at the request of the team or by any five members. 
  17. The team shall ensure that notice and agenda of any general meeting is published, together with any motions to be proposed, not less than two weeks before the meeting. Members intending to propose a motion should submit it to the team in writing, seconded by another member not less than three weeks before the meeting. This procedure shall apply to the nomination of coordinators. An annual audited statement of accounts shall be presented. The team shall ensure that minutes of all meetings are taken and shall present the minutes to the membership. 
  18. Decisions shall be carried at a meeting by a simple majority of members present at the meeting.
