NEXT THURSDAY BRIDGE IS ON THURSDAY 30TH MAY, MEMBERS ONLY. VISITORS WELCOME ON FRIDAYS. BLUE BADGE PARKING ONLY ON LARKHILL CAR PARK. PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE CENTRE BEFORE 12.30 ON THURSDAYS OR 12.45 ON FRIDAYS (EVEN IF THE DOORS ARE OPEN).
Advance notice of closure on Thursday 23rd May and Friday 24th May.
We have used playing cards for sale in good condition (can be supplied with jokers) at 50p a pack. Please enquire to Pat Shea.
AS A SERVICE TO OUR MEMBERS WE ARE COMPILING A LIST OF PROFESSIONALS AND TRADES PEOPLE. IF YOU HAVE SUGGESTIONS FOR THIS LIST PLEASE WRITE THEM ON THE LIST ON THE NOTICEBOARD. MEMBERS' RECOMMENDATIONS ONLY.
Only limited car parking can be allowed on the small Larkhill Centre car park due to the requirements for access for emergency vehicles. I would urge members to use the large free public car park adjacent to the centre which from January 2016 has a 3 hour time limit with no return within the hour. There are some spaces for blue badge holders near to the path leading to the centre. There are shortly to be parking restrictions on Thorley Lane itself but there is another free car park in the village behind the library which sometimes has spaces.

Summer Intermediate Pairs
A single session event for players below the rank of Regional Master (to include regular club players and others with limited experience of Bridge Tournaments).
This duplicate event (approx 24 boards) will be held on Sunday 23rd June at Altrincham Bridge Club (134 Cecil Rd, Hale, WA15 9NU) starting at 1.30pm.
This is a friendly bridge event and is supported by Larkhill Bridge Club. We want to encourage as many pairs to enter as possible.

Started in May 2010 our intention is to encourage novice players and lapsed players to join more seasoned players in taking part in friendly, duplicate bridge.
During the coming year the committee has already planned to feature several competitions and keep you informed of developments through our website, schedule of events and occasional newsletters. We also offer bridge holidays for our members and friends.
Membership is currently at capacity for play on Thursdays (members only)but we offer play at our Friday Club sessions to non members. There is a short waiting for Thursdays. If you do not bring a partner, we will do our best to assist but please arrive 15 minutes before commencement of play or use the 'Find a Partner' feature on the website. Visitors may attend our Friday sessions as posted on the website. Occasionally there is no Friday session due to bookings for the National Blood Transfusion Service.
We play every Thursday afternoon asking members to be seated by 12.45 for play to commence promptly at 12.50pm. Please see the 'Information' section for further details.
The Larkhill Centre is a modern venue, all on one floor and adjacent to the Thorley Lane free car park (3 hour time limit) and also has its own small car park which we respectfully ask you to leave for Blue Badge holders.
RECENTLY WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF PROBLEMS WITH THE RESULTS BECAUSE OF CARELESSNESS.
POINT ONE. NORTH IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BOARDS AND THE ORIENTATION MUST NOT BE CHANGED TO MAKE ROOM FOR DUMMY ON THE TABLE.
POINT TWO. WHEN CLAIMING PLEASE SHOW YOUR LINE OF PLAY WITHOUT RELEASING THE CARDS FROM YOUR HAND.
POINT THREE. REMEMBER TO COUNT YOUR CARDS.
POINT FOUR. EAST (OR WEST) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CHECKING THE SCORES HAVE BEEN ENTERED CORRECTLY.
NOT OBSERVING THESE GUIDELINES CAN SERIOUSLY AFFECT YOUR RESULT.
* GREET OTHERS IN A FRIENDLY MANNER, PRIOR TO START OF PLAY ON EACH ROUND
* BE A GOOD "HOST" OR "GUEST" AT THE TABLE
* MAKE BRIDGE ENJOYABLE FOR YOURSELF WITHOUT CRITICIZING PARTNER OR OPPONENTS
* GIVE CREDIT WHEN OPPONENTS MAKE A GOOD BID OR PLAY
* TAKE CARE OF YOUR PERSONAL GROOMING
* AVOID INQUESTS PARTICULARLY DUE TO THE NOISE LEVEL IT CREATES
* ENSURE THAT YOUR MOBILE PHONE IS ON SILENT
* ENJOY THE COMPANY AS WELL AS THE GAME
