LANGPORT BRIDGE CLUB — ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2026
held at 6:30pm on Monday 19th January 2026
at the Ridgeway Hall, Langport.
MINUTES
- Apologies for absence were received from 16 members. There were 19 members in attendance.
- The Chairman thanked members for supporting the club throughout the year. He said it had been another successful year, with an average of over 7½ tables per session. The membership was a pleasant mix of new faces and old stagers.The Chairman’s desire was that Langport Bridge Club become recognised as the friendliest club in the County. He asked all members to do their utmost to make sure this happens.As a token of the club’s appreciation, a bottle of wine was presented to each of Caroline and Andy for their directing, Andrew for scoring and David for his tea and coffee monitoring.
- The minutes of the meeting of 3rd February 2025 were approved by the meeting. There were no matters arising.
- Prizes were awarded as follows: Men’s Champion Graham Heal. Women’s Champion Shared by Sheena Lanham and Caroline McPherson. Non-Expert Cup Peter Cresswell. Handicap Winner. Kate Pilkington
- Treasurer’s Report. Simon Brooke reported end of 2025 account as follows.

The Treasurer advised that there was no need to increase either the membership fees or the table monies.
The treasurer also advised that as from 1st February 2026, the club would operate on a cashless basis. At the end of each quarter, members would pay their total due by direct payment into the proscribed account.
6. Housekeeping
Anyone wishing to develop their directing skills were asked to make themselves known to Caroline, who would endeavour to make use of them and reduce the burden on herself and Andy.
Pip Scaramanga volunteered to help David Shepherd with coffee management.
Members were asked to add to the dwindling collection of mugs.
Members were requested to make sure coffee cups, etc. were washed up before the last round was played. This would, inter alia, afford any sitting out players to pack things away before play finished.
