Lancashire has a bridge club in most major towns, with many having a host system to ensure visitors can get a game. Contact details, club times, beginners, intermediate classes are on the Clubs page though you should check before attending a new club. This website has details of forthcoming competitions and results. Membership of an affiliated Lancashire club  entitles you to play in Lancashire competitions, be eligible for Lancashire County Teams, and attend all Lancashire Council Meetings. Manchester Congress 2/3 Jan 2016

Congratulations to Marianne Farr and Jeff Smith who won the Championship Pairs at the annual Manchester Congress. More details on the Manchester Bridge Club Site.

Preston Blue Pointed Teams 10 Jan 2016
In the Preston Blue Pointed Teams on 10th January, clear winners were Kath and Alan Nelson with Jackie Pye and Jeff Smith ahead of Catherine Draper, Andrew Woodcock and Liz and Bill Wattleworth of Lancashire.  This well supported event had the maximum capacity 11 teams (with teams on reserve list) and was well run by Catherine and scored by Jeff. Also popular was the 11am start and 5pm finish (10 x 4-board matches) . Full results are on the Preston Bridge Club site.

Cumbria Congress 18-20 Mar 2016

Successes at this weekend Cumbria Congress...

Congrats to Nick Woodcock & Sue Fortorft on winning the main Pairs event and to Catherine Draper & Andrew Woodcroft, Keith Ashford & Michael Prior on winning the main Teams event with Sue Woodcock & Stuart Clarke, Nick Woodcock & Sue Fortorft second. Full Results on Cumbria Bridgewebs site.

Preston Open Pairs

The Preston Pairs on 17th April 2016 had a full house of 11 tables. Winners were B & R Goldenfield, closely followed by S Clarke/S Woodcock with C Draper/A Woodcock in third place. Full results available on Preston Bridge Club Bridgewebs site. 

Blackburn Open Swiss pairs

Brian Senior and John Holland won the 2016 Blackburn BC Open Swiss Pairs. In second place were David Hammonds and Paul Beckwith, and third were Rhona and Bernard Goldenfield.
There were fourteen tables in play and Paul Hepworth directed the event. 

Lancashire Leagues 2015/16

The East Lancs and Fylde Leagues for the 2015-16 season are now complete. The Fylde League Team of 8 A Division was won by Bolton A team. The East Lancs League Team of 4 A Division was won by S Challinor & T Wilkinson, A Kirby & B Dormand. The Sarker Cup was won by J Morrell & J Smith, P & H Williams. Congratulations to Catherine Draper who was part of the England Women's team which won the European Championships in Budapest, Hungary.The England Team starting the final day in third place, won all three matches, including victory against overnight leaders Poland in the final match.The whole team was Heather Dhondy, Nevena Senior, Sally Brock & Nichola Smith, Catherine Draper & Fiona Brown NPC Derek Patterson, Coach David Burn.Further Details on EBU WebSite. One Day GP Teams
Congratulations to Jeff Smith who with Alan Nelson, Kath Nelson and Jeff Morris were runaway winners of the annual one day green point Manchester Swiss Teams held at Altrincham on Sunday 24th July.  As usual there was a full turnout of 26 teams, who enjoyed a hot day of bridge.  Full details in the LCBA Results section with pohotos on the Manchester County bridge site.

Pendle Witch Pairs 13 Nov 2016

The Pendle Witch Pairs held on Sunday 13th November 2016 at Brierfield BC attracted 17 Tables. It was won by Boris Ewart & Peter Foster who finished just a single matchpoint ahead of the leading Lancashire pair John Brearley & Andrew Lum !

EBU Awards

I am delighted to report that two Lancashire members were given awards at today's EBU AGM. A Gold Award - the EBU's highest award - was presented to Andrew Petrie for his service on the EBU Board, and most recently to English Bridge Education and Development. The Tony Priday Award - for making an outstanding contribution to bridge and enhancing the game in all its aspects - was given to Jeffrey Smith for his work in County administration and in developing bridge software which he made available free of charge.Andrew thanked the EBU saying that the voluntary bridge work done by people at all levels is the backbone that supports the EBU in the promotion of bridge.

Lytham Rose Bowl 4th Dec 2016

Congratulations to Marianne Farr and Jeff Smith for winning the Lytham Rose Bowl on Sunday 4th December. Kenneth Renno and Brian Ripley were runners-up and last year's winners David Hammonds and Paul Worswick were third. A very special thank you to the catering team led by Jacqueline Wright, who laid on a delicious mid-session buffet.
