There were 11 tables at the annual Lytham Rose Bowl at Lytham BC with the event run most efficiently by David Stevenson. Winners were Paul Worswick & Dave Hammonds, second Paul Evans & Alan Whittam, third Les Hoy & Brian Afnel. As usual, refreshments were excellent. See Results section for final rankings.

Congratulations to Catherine Draper who was part of the England's Women's team that won a bronze medal in the Venice Cup at the World Championships in Chennai. They finished fifth in the round-robin phase of the competition and then went on to beat USA1 by a good margin in the quarterfinal. More information on the EBU website.

Congratulations to Jeff Smith & Jackie Pye who along with the Manchester Pair Bernard & Rhona Goldenfield won the Cumbria/Westmorland GP Swiss Teams at Kendal on Sat 26 Sep. Full results are on the Cumbria Bridgewebs site.

The Preston Pairs was won by Catherine Draper and Andrew Woodcock, with Bill Alston/Colin Mitchell second. There were twelve and a half tables and this popular event was well run with notable contribution from Catherine and Andrew, Veronica Petrie, Gill Armstrong and Mike Rothwell in the organisation. First Session winners were Don/Richard Hilton, Second session winners Mike & Sally-Ann Rothwell.
