Welcome to West Norfolk & King's Lynn Bridge Club
Welcome to West Norfolk & King's Lynn Bridge Club

West Norfolk and King's Lynn Bridge Club was formed in December 1945 and is affiliated to the English Bridge Union and the Norfolk Contract Bridge Association. We meet on Monday and Thursday evenings at the South Wootton Village Hall, a bright modern building which can comfortably fit up to 15 tables.

We welcome visitors and strive to provide friendly and relaxed evenings when players compete fairly and courteously. We support fully the "Best Behaviour at Bridge" code introduced by the English Bridge Union which is set out on the General Information page.

COACHING SESSIONS
COACHING SESSIONS

There has been considerable interest in Michael Whiting's coaching sessions and these are to be continued after Christmas on the following dates: -

Thursday 15 January

Thursday 12 February

Thursday 12 March

It would be very helpful to Michael if you will let him know in advance of any particular topics you would like to see covered in order that he may prepare a programme.

Club Member receives the Dimmie Fleming Award

Our congratulations go to Roger Amey on receiving the Dimmie Fleming Award in recognition of "A valuable contribution to the game of bridge and voluntary service to the English Bridge Union". He received the award last week from Margaret Curtis, a former Vice-Chairman of the E.B.U. at the Imperial Hotel in London.

Roger, a Grand Master, has been a member of the West Norfolk and King's Lynn Bridge Club for 35 years and played for the County for over 40 years. He is a former County President and Chairman and is presently the nominated E.B.U. Joint Shareholder for Norfolk together with Gerard Faulkner. He is also Chairman of the Norfolk Tournament Sub-Committee.

Roger follows other distinguished Norfolk members, Sheila Warner and Robbie Roberson in receiving this prestigious award. Well done Roger.

ANDREW ROBSON TO VISIT NORFOLK AGAIN

Andrew Robson will be at the Girls High School, Norwich on the evening of 4th December for another Master Class and this time the subject will be 'Defending Trump Contracts'. Andrew is, of course, a top international player, teacher and bridge journalist.

Do make a note in your diary. The exact time and price will be announced later although it is not expected to be more than the £25 charged last year. His Master Class last year was well attended (76 bought tickets) and was very well received.

E.B.U. CLUB COMMITTEE BULLETINS

As you know doubt are aware, the E.B.U. has set up a Clubs Committee to act as a channel with its member clubs and Suzanne Gill has agreed to represent Norfolk members. Club Committee Bulletins will be published regularly and may be accessed by clicking here.

NATIONAL INTER-CLUB KNOCKOUT

The Club has entered two teams for the NICKO this season. The 'A' team is the only team in the country to receive a first round bye whilst the 'B' team have an away tie with Peterborough 'C' team. First round matches are to be played by 23 November.
