New information about the U3A Bridge Group

The U3A Bridge Group will continue to play through June, July and August, providing there is sufficient support.

The session timing will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

On 5th May we played in the Devon Bridge Association's Simultaneous Pairs in support of the Devon Air Ambulance.  A total of £160 was raised and will be donated to the Devon Air Ambulance.  Hands will be uploaded to this web-site at around 10:00pm on 5th May.  Full results, including the other clubs who played the same hands, may be seen on the Devon Bridge Associations web-page at: http://www.devonbridge.co.uk/dba-results/?season=2016-2017&result_file=pairs/Devon_Air/devon_air.htm

Congratulations to Nick Massey and John Wakeling who came third in this event.  108 pairs played in total.

There will be no bridge on 2nd June, as West Charleton Village Hall was booked for another event.

Partner finding service

Rodney Bomford has very kindly offered to provide a service for introducing individuals who wish to play but have no regular partner.  Email Rodney on rodney@bomford.eclipse.co.uk with details of when you want to play, and whether on a regular or one-off basis and Rodney will forward your details onto other players in the same position.

Kingsbridge Estuary U3A Bridge Group is a part of the University of the Third Age and is affiliated to the English Bridge Union.

The group meets on a Friday and welcomes both experienced players and beginners.

The emphasis is on learning and playing the ACOL system.

The group endeavours to prepare members for playing in duplicate bridge clubs by giving experience of playing in a reasonably formal environment.

Tuition and coaching are provided and this includes proper bidding practice and play, best behaviour, etiquette and scoring.

Sessions are normally played as duplicate with occasional multiple teams.

Wherever possible pre-dealt hands are used and hand records provided.

Players are encouraged to attend as a pair.  Individual players may use the Partner finding Service by sending an email to rodney@bomford.eclipse.co.uk.
