To get an idea of how a BridgeTab works click the link to the website. The screen is easy to read for everyone at the table ...no more peering at a tiny window; the display is intuitive and in full colour! It is easy for all age groups to use.

Gala Pairs for Inter A. B and Novices
Gala Pairs for Inter A. B and Novices

NIBU have introduced a new competition for us. The Gala Pairs at La Mon on Sunday 4th August. This was a great opportunity to play with others of equal standard.

There were three sections: Intermediate A, Intermediate B and Novice (for those playing 3 years or less).

It was an easy going, enjoyable and fun day and a great introduction to playing in an event with others from outside the club.

Hot news Geoff Booth & Lorna Thompson came second in one of the Novice pairs sessions.... Congratulations! Our club had 24 players entered.

Killyleagh Bridge Club goes travelling
Killyleagh Bridge Club goes travelling
One club night in May Gerry enthused about the European Bridge Championships to be held in Dublin during June.  11 members took the train one Thursday morning (which allowed lots of hands to be dealt and tactics discussed for September when we resume club nights).
The organisation of the Championship event was massive and it was a great experience seeing how it was run.  Through a large window upstairs in the hotel we could see a huge wall of pre-dealt boards for the competitors to play. We were warmly greeted by the welcoming party especially Gerry who had been President of the event when it was last held in Killarney.  We sat in the commentary room where the hands were displayed on theVugraph. 4 experts commented on the bidding and play. Of course not always agreeing with each other!
Click here for a video of a session.   Click here to see the Vuegraph room
During the lunch break we observed intense discussion between team members  and the very different dress codes and appearance of the players.  Some  were very casual and others  formal, some had long shaggy hair, some were mature and others quite young, some had paunches, others were skinny.  ( A bit like our own club then...)

All in all it was a grand day out!
