The Times published an article on 3rd December entitled 'Anyone for bridge? Card games are the latest big deal in schools' highlighting Weald Community Primary School where Kent member Anton Mauve set up a lunchtime club and fellow Kent member Jim Garlinge passes on his knowledge of the game to young enthusiasts.

A new section has been added to the Archives - National Successes. This document lists National events from as far back as 1946 listing Kent players who have achieved success. There are many events listed along with the years Kent players achieved success - Gold Cup, Silver Plate, Pachabo, Crockfords and the Garden Cities to name but a few along with Camrose trials and main EBU congresses such as Brighton and Jersey. Gerald has spend many hours compiling this list and it makes for interesting reading - have a look when you get a moment.

Many congratulations to David Body and Valerie Reeves, winners of the George Griffiths Cup.
It was very close at the top but they came through in the end with a margin of 0.3% in a strong field of a record 44 pairs.
Congratulations also to Lesley & Roger Pechey who came second. Jean Smallwood and Eddie Lucioni were third.

Many congratulations to Helen Erichsen and Jon Thoresen who won the Portland Pairs by a margin of over 4%. The Portland Pairs is the EBU’s mixed pairs competition and this year 284 Pairs took part across the country playing at 12 venues. The full results are available to be viewed by clicking here.
Ruffian’s held its 2nd SIMS event on Sunday March 25, with 25 children from local schools participating in a 16-board Minibridge Junior SIMS Competition.
Congratulations to Amelia Mauve and Sofia Soper as the top Ruffian’s pairing. Minna Briscoe and Sofia Ballara are currently lying 2nd overall and Sophie Hill and Louisa Annadale third.

Congratulations to Mike Bryant & David Keith, winners of the Kent Championship pairs. They were tied in first place with Eddie Richart & John Amor but were declared the winners of the trophy on a split tie. In third place were Malcolm Lewis and Steve Auchterlonie and in joint fourth Stephen Brown & Stuart McPhee and Chris Wall & Mike Hampton.
The top four pairs will be invited to represnt Kent in the Corwen Trophy in June. For the full results please click here.
Many congratulations to Kay Preddy and Norman Selway who won the KCBA Swiss Pairs for the second year running. They finished 13VPS ahead of runners up John Austin and Michael Percik.

Congratulations to all and especially to Norman and Jeremy who are 9th and 10th respectively across the country.
Many congratulations to the Kent team captained by Jeremy Willans who have won the Tollemache Cup. The Tollemache is the Inter-County Championships for teams of eight. Kent have won the trophy five times, see the archive section for team line ups in previous years. Kent have finished in 2nd place in three of the past four years so it is great to see them triumph again.
Congratulations also to Jeremy and Ian who topped the X IMP table. Full results are on the EBU's web site.

Derek Patterson, Michael Prior and Bill Hirst were part of the team who qualified for the final back in November finishing top of their section.
Many congratulations to the Farnborough 'D' team who have won the Mitchell Salver (3rd tier of the Corbett League) by a margin of 14 VPs, winning all seven of their matches. Team members were Roger & Lesley Pechey, Gillian & Allan Foster, Valerie Smith & Ken McClements and Tom Smith & Mike Penney.
The Bromley North 'A' team of David Parkinson & Peter Cox, David & Hilary Powell, David Harper & John Gibbons and Robert Middledith & Barbara Jackson were runners up.
