  Ellis Cup

The Ellis Cup is a competition for teams of 4 players.

The leading two eligible teams in the October Teams evening qualify for the semi-final.

The leading two eligible teams in the November Teams evening (excluding those who qualified in October) qualify for the semi-final.

The semi-final and final are played on the first Thursday in December.

The semi-final consists of 12 boards. The higher placed October qualifier plays the lower placed November qualifier and vice versa.

The winners of the two semi-final matches play in the final which consists of 14 boards (unless both captains request 12).
The losers play a 12-board consolation final.

Note: To be eligible, all members of a team must be full club members before play starts. If a team member is unable to play in the final for good reason, a substitute (who has not already played in the competition) is allowed. Members are not allowed to play for more than one team. If one of the qualifying teams is unable to play in the final, the next most successful eligible team will play.
