Dennis Johnston Team Game Saturday March 30th

Dennis Johnston I/N Pair and Life Master Pair Team Game!

Our 8th Annual Dennis Johnston Team Game is Saturday March 30th.  Teams must consist of one I/N Pair.  (Don't worry I/N pairs play against I/N pairs!!)

This is a really fun team game, so make sure you come on out.

Sign up sheet is at the club, there are people who want to play in the game but don't have a partner or a team, so we have a sign up sheet for that as well!

Game is Saturday March 30th, it is a two session Team Game with chicken dinner ($5).  First game starts at 12:30 pm, then chicken dinner, followed by the second session.

For those of you who aren't aware of the history of the game, in 2011, the two Kingston ACBL clubs merged and games were played at the Frontenac Mall.  The first team game for the club was played on September 29, 2011 and the game was open to all players, there was no I/N side game.

Dennis Johnston was an avid, strong bridge player who at the time of the game was quite ill with cancer.  He decided at the last minute to play and scurried to find a team.  He gathered a few newbies.  Their chances were not rated high, but they did in fact win the event!  Dennis’s teammates were Ilona Ahrens, Assunta Gerretson and Tara Oberai, all of whom were non-life masters at the time.

Dennis passed away December 31, 2011 and his daughter Christy Johnston-Garrity, knowing how much Dennis loved bridge, wanted to give something to the club in Dennis’ memory.  In was decided that she would purchase a plaque in Dennis’ name and this plaque would be awarded to the winning team consisting of 2 newer players and 2 more experienced players.

We have held the game every year since Dennis’ death, the spirit of the game is to get everyone playing together, the I/N’s with the Open side.

This is our only team game of the year where this happens.  So we hope to see you on Saturday the 30th!

Second Thursday I/N Mentor Night Change

Due to popular request the format of the 2nd Thursday Night of the month I/N Mentor game is changing.  To make it more of a mentoring experience less boards will be played to allow more time to discuss the hands and no master points will be awarded.

Looking forward to seeing our regulars on this night and all the newcomers.

Have a great time everyone!

Friday afternoon I/N Game

Sign up sheet for the Friday IN game is up on the corkboard for this Friday March 22nd.

6 Pairs have signed up!

There are enough pairs for an I/N section!  If more would like to come out that's even better!

Class Cancellation

Eva and Dave's Friday Classes are cancelled until March 29th.

If you are interested in playing in the second Thursday 6:30PM I/N Mentor Game please email:
