 TITLE |
| The Club shall be known as the "Ipswich and Kesgrave Duplicate Bridge Club" and shall be affilated to the English Bridge Union. |

|
|
|
| MANAGEMENT |
a)
The management of the Club shall be vested in a Committee consisting of the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Chief Tournament Director, Secretary, Treasurer, Captain, Membership Secretary, and three other committee members.
b)
A President may be elected at an A.G.M. and shall have no official duties connected with the management of the Club.
c)
Four members of the committee shall form a Quorum and shall have full power to transact the business of the Club.
d)
The Officers of the Club and other members of the Committee shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting and shall serve until the next. All may be re-elected but no Officers of the Club may remain in office more than three years. Save in the event that no other nomination for a given post having been received, the Chairman may, at his discretion, accept the nomination of the retiring officer.
e)
The Committee pending the Annual General Meeting may fill any vacancy occuring in the Committee. |

| GENERAL MEETINGS |
a)
The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held at a time fixed by the Committee, but no more than sixteen months shall elapse between meetings.
b)
The business of the Annual General Meeting shall comprise:-
i) election of Officers and Committee
ii) presentation of audited accounts for the year
iii) any other subject included in the notice to members convening the meeting
iv) other items accepted for discussion at the discretion of the Chairman
c)
Fifteen members of the Club shall form a quorum at an Annual General Meeting.
d)
A Special General Meeting shall be called by the Secretary on receipt of a requisition signed by at least eight members stating the exact purpose for which the meeting is to be held. The Committee may call a Special General Meeting at any time. The Secretary shall give at least two weeks notice of every General Meeting to members.
e)
An Honorary Auditor shall be elected at each Annual General Meeting. |

| ELECTION OF MEMBERS |
a)
Every candidate for membership of the Club shall be proposed and seconded by the Club members on a nomination form to be forwarded to the Membership Secretary.
b)
Applications for membershiip shall be posted on the notice board. Members views on the suitability of the candidate for membership should be submitted in writing and will be taken into account by the Committee.
c)
Candidates applications will considered at the first opportunity following a minimum of four attendances, post application, at Club meetings, as guests. Candidates will be accepted by a majority vote of the Committee with not more than two votes against. |

| SUBSCRIPTIONS |
a)
The amount of the annual subscription shall be decided at the Annual General Meeting or a Special General meeting called for that purpose.
b)
The Committee shall have the power to make pro-rata adjustments to the subscriptions of members elected during the season.
c)
Members whose subscription is more than two months in arrears may be suspended at the discretion of the Committee. |

| VISITORS |
| Members shall be allowed to introduce guests, but no guest may attend more than five times per season unless an application for membership has been submitted. |

|
|
|
| PLAYING RULES |
a)
Play and conduct at the table shall be governed by the current Laws of Contract Bridge and the International Code of Duplicate Bridge, except in so far as these have been amended or added to by the Committee.
b)
All conventions in calling and play must be approved by the Committee before use. The Committee shall have the power to prohibit the use of any convention.
c)
The Tournament Director or his appointed deputy shall have the power to penalise or disqualify any member who, in his or her opinion, infringes a playing rule. |

| ALTERATION OF RULES |
| No Rule of the Club shall be altered, nor any new Rule passed, except at an Annual General Meeting and after due notice to members. |

|
|
|
| RESIGNATION OF A MEMBER |
| The Committee has the power to request the resignation of any member without having to give a specific reason. |
|
|
|
|
|
| SMOKING |
| Smoking is not permitted in the playing area. |
