Chris Chambers identified the various ways to show a strong hand having opened with a one-bid. He considered problem types and hand-valuation. The main emphasis was on recognising and respecting forces and the seminar included two quizzes the answers to which are in the presentation.

He began with everyday auctions with examples that demonstrated how many inferences were available even before the opening lead. There followed deals for attendees to play which were analysed and are included in the documents below.
