New Bridge Classes at Ipswich & Kesgrave
Weare delighted to announce there will be two courses at Kesgrave starting thisOctober.
Year One tuition, to learn bridge from scratch, will be on Tuesdays, and Year Two, for those who completed year one or players who would simply like to improve their understanding, is on Thursdays.
Both courses are in the evening, startingat 7:30pm and held at Kesgrave War Memorial Community Centre.
Dates for Year One
Keydates:
- Tuesday 4-October – Free introductory session
- Tuesday 11-October – Term starts
- Tuesday 13-December – Tenth class and end of term
- Thursday 15-December – Club Christmas party
- Tuesday 10th January 2012 - Start of Term 2
Bridge is taught using the EBU course, three 10-week terms. Students are provided with the EBU book 'Beginning Bridge'. The teachers will be Mike Bone and Brian Ellul who each have a long association with Ipswich & Kesgrave club. No prior knowledge of bridge or cards is assumed but if you are self-taught, or have learnt in a social context and been playing a while, the course is eminently suitable.
Classes start at starting at 7:30pm and are typically last until 10:00pm, with a break for tea/coffee and biscuits midway.
The cost for Term 1 is £75 which covers EBU course material, club membership and tuition(terms two and three are £50).

It's not necessary to have done Year One above but those who have will recognise the format: very much along the same lines. Students will be following the EBU book 'Continuing Bridge' and the course is taught by last year's tutor, Chris Chambers.
It is far from essential to have done the first year course or indeed, had any tuition at all. The second year assumes some knowledge but the level of detail is slight and term begins with a "what I should already know" section. It is entirely appropriate for someone who has been playing social,rubber or club bridge for a (combined) nine months or so. If you have any detailed questions we would be happy to answer them.
