10 Dec Christmas Party |
This was an extremely well attended evening. Refreshments were offered on arrival, before settling down to play bridge. A Pivot movement was played until we stopped for the buffet. The food, having been supplied by the good members of the club, was magnificent, with tables groaning from the various choices of savouries and sweets. During this evening we presented gifts to a very special member Bill Greenhill - see other news item. The evening was completed with prize giving for the winners and losers. Finally there was a very generous raffle, with prizes also donated by members. The club was very pleased to send all monies raised from the raffle to the Quiddenham Children's Hospice. (Buffet table with members having a good time) |

Joyce Seller's 90th Birthday |
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOYCE On this Monday’s evening – 21 April we celebrated another member’s 90th birthday Half way through the evening’s play, the Chairman Bill Broughton, called the room to order. He then made the announcement about Joyce’s birthday. Members all joined in a chorus of HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Suzanne (Gill) was then asked to give some background information as she had known Joyce for a number of years. She started off by mentioning that Joyce was a ‘Norfolk Lass’. Joyce and her husband had been involved in the antiques business, which had taken them all over the country. They had lived outside Norfolk, but at the earliest opportunity, Joyce came back to her roots - or home. Joyce also initiated the introduction of Pat (Whittle) to the Horning Bridge Club, when Pat first moved to Norfolk. Flowers and a card were presented to Joyce from the members of the club. Having thanked everyone present, Joyce gave us a little anecdote regarding a helium balloon. She was going on a car journey this past Saturday, and had very carefully put the said balloon into her car. Her neighbour came over to speak to her and during this conversation he mentioned that he had just seen a balloon exiting her car. Her request to the club was ‘if found please return to owner’ We all had a good laugh at this. |
