Thinking Defence |
This seminar is in two part, defending against No Trumps and defending against a suit contract, and is looked at from the point of view of the opening leader’s partner. Each part has a series of questions to ask oneself after partner’s opening lead, such as, " what is the lead showing? Am I going to return the suit? Is there a good switch?"
The presenter emphasises the importance of, “Take Your Time at trick 1", before playing and “Lead up to dummy’s weakness”, when dummy is on your right.
In some ways this is very formulaic – “Ask yourself the questions every time after partner’s opening lead” but it is no less valuable for that. A good way to improve one's defence.
