| Welcome to Honiton Bridge Club |
Honiton Bridge Club was formed over twenty years ago, is affiliated to the English Bridge Union and welcomes players of all standards.
A host system is run so you will always be guaranteed a game should you turn up at the club on your own. However it is always advisable to ring as on club competition nights, simultaneous pairs events and on Bank holidays no standby is present.
Our calendar of events lists the director and the standby for any particular evening.
The club meets on a Monday evening, starting at 7.00pm. Our directors have attended the courses run by the EBU. There is usually a short break during the evening when tea and coffee are available.
The club is run from the first floor of the St. John Ambulance Hall and the back of the building faces directly on to Lower Brand Lane. If you approach the club from this Lane then after you have turned into Haydons Park, you turn immediately left. There is a small car park available.
As the club is on the first floor and as there is no lift or chair lift, we are unable to accommodate those who are unable to manage stairs and we do apologise for this. |

| Simple Etiquette |
Regular partnerships should have a convention card available for their opponents to look at.
Please fill in the travellers before your own personal scorecard and remember not to discuss the hand as the board has to be played at other tables.
Don't hover at a table waiting to collect boards you are about to play. Ask someone who has no further interest in those boards to get them for you.
At the end of the evening please make sure that the table and chairs you have just used are put away, that one of the cards in the boards is placed face up and that the travellers are removed and straightened.
If they have not already been collected take the table number and Howell movement card if these have been used, to the table at the front of the room.
If you have any queries at all during the play of the hands don't try to solve them yourselves but rather call the director for the evening over. |
