The Thompson Shield was presented to the Club by Jo and Malcolm Thompson in 2003.  The rules of the competiton are:

• Pairs Event
• A knock-out competition played over sevral months
• The final should be played before the date of the Annual General Meeting
• The draw for each round will take place at the club
• The first pair out of the hat should sit N/S; the second pair to sit E/W
• Both pairs to start at the same table
