Competition Entries are NOW being taken for 2016/2017 league and knockout competitons.

County Leagues (entry form via link)

 

Division 1 players must be Prime members . Winners represent HIWCBA in Pachabo Cup. First division matches must be completed by the end of May to allow entry to the Pachabo Cup
Division 2 players do not need to be members of HIWCBA or EBU.

Matches in all divisions will be of 24 boards duration . IMPs are converted to victory points according to the scale given in the full regulations.

After entries have been received, the league secretary will arrange a fair measure of promotion and relegation, based on previous season league tables, and as detailed in the full regulations (as accessed at the bottom of this page)  Up to max 6 players can be used per team per season.

Closing date for entries 31st August 2016  However an earlier entry would be welcome as it helps to sort things out!   Entry Fee £10 per team
 

Cahalan Cup (entry form via link)

This green pointed knock out competition with an unseeded draw is conducted on a head to head basis between teams of four.

Knockout throughout. Open to HIWCBA members and also EBU members of other county associations. Any team must still comprise at least 50% HIWCBA members. Matches must be played in Hampshire. A Green Pointed event. Matches are of 24 boards played in two 12 board stanzas with a compulsory change of opponents at half time. The event is pre-drawn after the closing date for entries. There is no seeding. The away team have seating rights (ie how to place their own pairs after the home team have chosen their sitting positions) for the first stanza. The final will be of 32 boards played in eight board stanzas unless the captains agree to play in two stanzas. In the final only the seating rights are determined by toss of the coin The captain who wins the toss may choose two stanzas in which to have seating rights; ie the right to seat their players after opponents have made their line-up. The two stanzas may include 1, 2, 3 or 4, but not both stanzas 3 and 4. The captain losing the toss has the right to seat players after opponents have made their line-up in the other two stanzas.

2016-2017 Interclub Team Competitions

HIWCBA run 3 knockout Interclub team competitions - The Solent Trophy, The Basingstoke Cup and The HICKO. Only the solent trophy is restricted to EBU affiliated clubs. To enter either use the entry form below or the form that has already been sent to you.

The Solent Trophy  (SOLENT ENTRY 2016-17.xlsx)

A teams of 8 knockout competition for club and for members with HIWCBA as their county of allegiance. Players may only compete for one team. Team members must be members of the club they represent. 24 boards. Two 12 boards stanzas except for the final which is 32 boards played as four stanzas of eight boards. Master Points: county scale The winning club will be invited to represent HIWCBA in the EBU Garden Cities competition. Matches must be played on time to ensure that the entry to the Garden Cities can be submitted at the end of April. Special imp scale for use in this event -see 2016-2017 rules and regualations at the end of this page.

The Basingstoke Cup (BASINGSTOKE ENTRY FORM 2016-17.xlsx)

This event is available to both EBU affiliated and non-affiliated clubs. This cup is an inter-club knockout competition for teams of 8. Clubs may enter more than one team. Team members must be members of the club they represent. A knockout competition. Matches are of 24 boards played in two stanzas of 12 boards with a compulsory change of opponents at half-time. The players’ rankings throughout the competition will be based on their ranking at the start of the season (1 September).This competition is for less experienced players and clubs should aim to select players from the range of ability to reflect the nature of the competition. Systems are restricted to Level 2. The competition is restricted to players who at 1 September have fewer than 10 Green Points and are a 9 or below on the NGS. Please use the table in paragraph 7.3 (Solent Trophy) of the 2016-17 rules and regulations (link at the end of this page) to calculate imps.

Handicapped knockout competition for teams of four (up to six in each team).THIS SHOULD BE A FUN EVENT!This event is available to both EBU affiliated and non-affiliated clubs.Clubs may enter more than one team.Players do not need to be EBU or HIWCBA members.Matches are of 24 boards played in two stanzas of 12 boards with a compulsory change of opponents at half-time.The players’ rankings throughout the competition will be based on their ranking at start of the season (1 September). As this is a handicap knockout competition, no master points are awarded. Systems are restricted to Level 2.EBU members: Please use the following table of handicaps:

Non-EBU members or any EBU members with no grade will be regarded as a 7 but if a player is usually in the top third at your club select a handicap of NGS 8 or 9. A higher handicap may be more appropriate especially if the player has many years’ experience.

Handicaps should be stated before the start of the match.
