The Solent Trophy (SOLENT ENTRY 2016-17.xlsx)
A teams of 8 knockout competition for club and for members with HIWCBA as their county of allegiance. Players may only compete for one team. Team members must be members of the club they represent. 24 boards. Two 12 boards stanzas except for the final which is 32 boards played as four stanzas of eight boards. Master Points: county scale The winning club will be invited to represent HIWCBA in the EBU Garden Cities competition. Matches must be played on time to ensure that the entry to the Garden Cities can be submitted at the end of April. Special imp scale for use in this event -see 2016-2017 rules and regualations at the end of this page.
The Basingstoke Cup (BASINGSTOKE ENTRY FORM 2016-17.xlsx)
This event is available to both EBU affiliated and non-affiliated clubs. This cup is an inter-club knockout competition for teams of 8. Clubs may enter more than one team. Team members must be members of the club they represent. A knockout competition. Matches are of 24 boards played in two stanzas of 12 boards with a compulsory change of opponents at half-time. The players’ rankings throughout the competition will be based on their ranking at the start of the season (1 September).This competition is for less experienced players and clubs should aim to select players from the range of ability to reflect the nature of the competition. Systems are restricted to Level 2. The competition is restricted to players who at 1 September have fewer than 10 Green Points and are a 9 or below on the NGS. Please use the table in paragraph 7.3 (Solent Trophy) of the 2016-17 rules and regulations (link at the end of this page) to calculate imps.

Handicapped knockout competition for teams of four (up to six in each team).THIS SHOULD BE A FUN EVENT!This event is available to both EBU affiliated and non-affiliated clubs.Clubs may enter more than one team.Players do not need to be EBU or HIWCBA members.Matches are of 24 boards played in two stanzas of 12 boards with a compulsory change of opponents at half-time.The players’ rankings throughout the competition will be based on their ranking at start of the season (1 September). As this is a handicap knockout competition, no master points are awarded. Systems are restricted to Level 2.EBU members: Please use the following table of handicaps:

Non-EBU members or any EBU members with no grade will be regarded as a 7 but if a player is usually in the top third at your club select a handicap of NGS 8 or 9. A higher handicap may be more appropriate especially if the player has many years’ experience.
Handicaps should be stated before the start of the match.
