The first qualifinal of the Humble Cup will be held at 12noon in the Bridge Centre on Sunday 8 January 2017. All players must be HBA members with Herts as their county of allegiance. The entry fee for the 1st qualifinal is £32 per team.
It is open to teams that qualified in one of the club heats in this season's competition and pre-entry by 31 December 2016 is required. In addition to the four team members who played in the qualifying heat, two additional players may be registered to bring the team up to a maximum of six but the additional players must not have played in another competing team in a qualifying heat and teams can only field four players in the 1st qualifinal matches.
Two head to head knock-out matches of 24 boards will be played in the 1st qualifinal. Teams that are eliminated after the 1st (afternoon) session will be eligible to compete in the Humble Plate, a multiple teams competition) in the 2nd (evening) session for which there is no further entry fee. There will be an interval between the two sessions when players are advised to bring any refreshments they may require.
Teams that win their 1st and 2nd session matches in the Humble Cup may be required to play another match privately before 28 January in order to reduce the field to eight teams who will compete in the 2nd qualifinal on Sunday 5 February 2017.
