The HBA Charity for 2019-20

Proposals for next season's charity are still required!!

The HBA normally supports 1 or 2 charities each year, preferably small local charities that will feel the benefit of our relatively small donation. Our nominated charity for 2017-18 was the Rennie Grove Hospice and through the Marjorie Lukyn, we raised £1,299 for them.

Nominations should be sent to the HBA secretary by email, no later than May 10th, 2019. Please supply your contact details and any additional information about the charity that you can.

Congratulations to all those achieving new master point promotions, with particular mention to Tugrul Kaban who is now a Grand Master. Click here.. to see the March list.

Championship Pairs

2018 winners: Alan Woof & Oliver Tiemann

The Championship Pairs is Hertfordshire's main pairs competition. Heats are held in clubs, with the top 50% of pairs from each heat qualifying for the semi-final held in January. Note that players can only play in one heat. After the semi-final the top 24 pairs go through to the all-play-all final.

Everyone playing the semi-final and final must have Hertfordshire as their county of primary allegiance. Non-Hertfordshire players may still qualify at a heat, but would then have to switch allegiance if they wanted to play in the semi-final.

The semi-final was held on 27th January, and the top 24 pairs have now qualified for the final. Please could these pairs confirm whether or not they are able to play in the final (see link to entry form at the bottom of this page).
