Congratulations to the team of Anne Flockhart, Sally Bennett, Vernon Gaskell, Celia Oram, Derek Oram and Philip Williams who won the HBA League Division 1 title for 2014-15. Runners up were the team of Arni Anidjar-Romain, Anthony Golding, Francis Morton and Robert Teesdale.

Congratulations also to the Divison 2 winners - Judy Haring, Janet Cohen, Sylvie Grant, Rosella Emanuel and Gill Walker. Runners up were June Ball, David Arrighi, John Eyre, Helen Robinson and Brian Smith.

New teams are welcome to join Division 2 for the new season which will be starting in October. Further information about entry will be provided on this site in due course.

Congratulations to the Oram team (Sally Bennett, Roger Gibbons, Celia & Derek Oram) who have beaten the Haywood team (John Eyre, Colin Haywood, Ian Kemp, Jill Mumford) in the final of the 2014/2015 event. A team comprising Celia, Derek and the four members of the Haywood team will represent Hertfordshire in the EBU's Inter-county teams-of-four championship, the Pachabo Cup, in June and we wish them good luck.

Many congratulations to Helen Robinson and Mark Westley who won the National Portland Pairs on Sunday 22nd March.

The Portland Pairs is the British Mixed Pairs Championship and is played over two sessions at several venues around the Country..

This year 397 pairs took part. Helen and Mark had an overall percentage of 66% some 2% ahead of the second placed pair. They had a storming 74% first session followed by a 58% second session.

Well done an excellent result

The final of the Marjorie Lukyn charity event was held on friday 20th March.

Congratulations to the winners Barbara McKinnon and Howard Morgan. Second were Bill Thurl and Anne Flockhart. In third place were John Pelley and Carole Morley.

This year all the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Hertfordshire Childrens Fund.

Swiss Pairs Winners

Congratulations to Bill Gardner and Coneliu Rimboiu winners of the Swiss Pairs on Saturday 19th July. There was a field of 118 pairs. They are pictured with Linda Fleet Treasurer of Essex receiving the trophy. Second were Andrew Bennett and David Hinkin.

Conratulations to David Sherman, Peter Hasenson, Dimitre Stoev and John Vos winners of the Swiss teams on Sunday 20th July ( also pictured). There was a field of 49 teams. Second were the team of Tom Dessain, Turgrul Kaban, Giles and Gabriel IP.

The winners of the mixed teams event which followed the AGM on Sunday 18th May were the team of Sheila Evans, Maria Budd, Mark Westley and Mike Robson (not in picture).

Congratulations to Peter Clark and Simon Mostyn who won the County Championship Pairs on Sunday 27th April in a closely fought contest.

Second were Paul and Fiona Littlewood, third Celia and Derek Oram and fourth Karima Basse and Roy Button.

All four pairs will represent Hertfordshire in the national Corwen Trophy to be held in June. We wish them all the best of luck.

Congratulations to the team from Watford and Bushey BC (Anthony Osborne, Joe Coulson, Maureen and Keith Ashman) winners of the Cadet Teams Championship held on friday 25th April. Second were a team from St Albans BC and third a team from Leverstock Green BC.

Congratulations to the team of Mike Hancock, Piers Fuller, Roger Gibbons, Alan Kay, David Kendrick and Dave Walker who retained the Division 1 title. Second were the team of Anne Flockhart, Celia Oram, Derek Oram, Vernon Gaskell, Sally Bennett and Philip Williams. 

The Division 2 title was won by the team of Roy Button, Francis Eddleston, Malcolm Harris, Maria Budd, Rick Irwin and Karima Basse. They will be joined in Division 1 next year by the team of Arni Anidjar-Romain, Robert Teesdale, John Neville and Richard Chester who were runners up in Division 2.

Congratulations to the Harding team  (Andrew Doye, Stan & Tara Harding, Mike Rawlins) who have beaten the Turnham team (Sara Barnett, Hazel Miles, Harry Silverman, Bob Turnham) by 12 imps in the Humble Cup Final. They have been invited to represent Hertfordshire in the Pachabo Cup in June and we wish them the best of luck.

Congratulations to Steve Southworth and Fiona Paterson (see picture) winners of the Intermediate Championship  held on Sunday 16th March. second were David Sparkes and Peter Winship.

Congratulations also to Stephen Coade and Joan Grundon winners of the Cadets Championship. Second were Don Olsen and Ray Cole.

Congratulations to Malcolm Harris and Sally Bennett who won the Marjorie Lukyn final held on Friday 14th March by a clear margin. Second were Colin Haywood and Ian Kemp and third were Walter Russell and Jackie Davies.

The County A, B and C teams completed their 2013/4 programme of matches against other Eastern Counties on Sunday 16th February with matches against Norfolk. Whilst we were unable to repeat last year's successes when we won all three divisions nevertheless it has been a satisfactory year.

The A team lost 8-12 and are likely to finish in 3rd position in their division

The B team won 17-3 and are also likely to finish in third position in the B division.

The C team won 18-2 and are clear champions of the C division. The C team will now play in the National Inter-Counties final on 6th July where they will be defending the cup they won last year. We wish them all the best in the final.
