A number of our affiliated clubs in Hertfordshire run Courses for beginners and improvers. To find out details of the Courses and Clubs near you together with contact details click on the menu page on the left titled Education and Teaching and then on the page titled Teaching in Clubs.
Congratulations to the Harding team (Andrew Doye, Stan & Tara Harding, Mike Rawlins) who have beaten the Turnham team (Sara Barnett, Hazel Miles, Harry Silverman, Bob Turnham) by 12 imps in the Humble Cup Final. They have been invited to represent Hertfordshire in the Pachabo Cup in June and we wish them the best of luck.
The HBA Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 18th May commencing at 3.00pm at the Bridge Centre, Welwyn Garden City. This will be followed by a Mixed Teams of Four event.
If you would like to make a nomination for the committee your nomination (with a proposer and seconder) should be submitted to the Secretary Robert Teesdale no later than Sunday 20th April 2014.
If you have a resolution to put to the AGM it should also be submitted to the Secretary no later than 20th April 2014 (with a proposer and seconder).

The Mixed Teams of Four event is a friendly and relaxed event. Entry Forms can be found under Entry Forms in the main menu list on the left hand side and more information is given in the calendar.
Congratulations to Steve Southworth and Fiona Paterson (see picture) winners of the Intermediate Championship held on Sunday 16th March. second were David Sparkes and Peter Winship.
Congratulations also to Stephen Coade and Joan Grundon winners of the Cadets Championship. Second were Don Olsen and Ray Cole.

Congratulations to Malcolm Harris and Sally Bennett who won the Marjorie Lukyn final held on Friday 14th March by a clear margin. Second were Colin Haywood and Ian Kemp and third were Walter Russell and Jackie Davies. Full result can be seen by clicking on the box at the right hand side..
The County A, B and C teams completed their 2013/4 programme of matches against other Eastern Counties on Sunday 16th February with matches against Norfolk. Whilst we were unable to repeat last year's successes when we won all three divisions nevertheless it has been a satisfactory year.
The A team lost 8-12 and are likely to finish in 3rd position in their division
The B team won 17-3 and are also likely to finish in third position in the B division.
The C team won 18-2 and are clear champions of the C division. The C team will now play in the National Inter-Counties final on 6th July where they will be defending the cup they won last year. We wish them all the best in the final.
The Championship Pairs semi final was held on Sunday 26th January. 52 pairs took part in the two session event with the top 24 pairs qualifying for the final on Sunday 27th April 2014. Congratulations to Tugrul Kaban and Tom Dessain who won the event and to the other 23 pairs who qualified. Details about entry to the final will be sent to all qualifying pairs.
