Club Policy Notice (February 10, 2023)

1.   Swiss Team Games:  Effective immediately, players will be responsible for forming teams for Swiss games.  Darryl and Karen will no longer be in the business of recruiting players to make or complete rosters.  If you need, please go to  https://www.bridgewebs.com/cgi-bin/bwop/bw.cgi?club=lasvegasunit373&pid=display_page17  for the list of local ACBL members.  A reservation is required to play in a scheduled Swiss game.  If you need to cancel your reservation, kindly give notice no later than 8:00 PM on the day preceeding the scheduled Swiss game.  Failure to show up for a Swiss game without a canceled reservation will result in punitive measures.

2.   Psychic calls (bids) during an auction:  The Club's full policy will be posted on this website in the near future.  For now, the following will be in effect regarding psychs:

  • No psychic call will be allowed against any opponent that is rated below Silver Life Master (normally 1,000 MPs).
  • Psychs of artificial calls are prohibited.
  • Any one-level opening bid or any overcall that does not meet the Rule of 17 will be deemed a psychic call.  Any off-shaped takeout double made on fewer than 13 high-card points will be deemed a psych (if the double has at least a 4-4 holding in the majors, the HCP threshold will be lowered to 12 HCP);  The HCP thresholds for off-shape takeout doubles at the one level in the balancing chair are one HCP lower, respectively.
  • No more than one psychic call will be allowed per session.  More than one psych in a session will be deemed a partnership agreement, upon which director may issue failure-to-alert penalties at his/her discretion.
  • When the situation is unclear on whether a call is a psych, the director will be the final arbiter.

The first violation of this policy will result in a penalty of either 3 or half of the matchpoints at stake on the board in question (whichever is greater) in a pairs game, or 6 IMPs in a Swiss team game.
