Wireless scoring FAQs

Q. What do I do if one of the scorers is not receiving a signal at the start?

A. Take it close up to the transmitter aerial and start game again. If this doesn’t work, replace with another ScorePad from the box by the laptop table.

Q. What do I do if I enter the wrong club ID?

A. When the ScorePad shows all four names at the table, you can select one name, press OK, and you have the option to change the ID number, press OK and it will return to the four names screen. This can only be done one name at a time. If you have gone beyond the names screen, you can restart the ScorePad unit or you can ask the TD or technical support to add or change names in the names screen of Scorebridge on the laptop.

Q. What do I do if I enter the wrong score, or enter a score for the wrong board?

A. Make a note of what the problem is and at the end of the round, when the ScorePad screen shows all the results for the round that has just been completed, select the incorrect result, press OK and you will be offered the option to change it. If you have gone beyond that page, it is still possible to change the score by asking the TD to change it on the Bridge Scorer Control on the laptop. Usually this is done at the end of the event, so keep a note of the table, the hand number and the problem and give this to the TD.

Q. What do I do if I the ScorePad runs out of batteries or 'dies' and I need to replace it in mid-event?

A. Notify the TD that there is a problem As the score is held on the computer up to the end of each round, the unit can have the batteries replaced or the whole unit replaced and will 'pick up' the score from the computer. The TD or technical support will do this for you. You may have to enter any missing information for the current hand or hands in the current round.

Q.What to do if the boards at the table do not correspond to the boards shown on the ScorePad?

A. There is some discrepancy between the movement on the system and the distribution of the boards. The most likely reason is that in the case of a half-table, the sit-out pair has been entered instead of the missing pair. This requires a restart of the Event.

Q. Can the TD enter changes to a pairs score as the result of a ruling at the table?

A. Yes, most rulings will happen at the table at the time and can be entered by the TD onto the ScorePad directly, either as an amended score for that hand or a fine. However, if the TD wishes to change a score afterwards, it can be done in one of three ways:

  • At the end of the round, on the Scorer when the scores for that round are shown on the Scorer screen.
  • At any time before the end of the event, on the Bridge Scorer screen of the laptop, on the yellow pop-up screen that corresponds to that board at that table.
  • After the end of play, on the Scorebridge screen where the results for each board are shown.

The advantage of the first two options is that the modified score will be incorporated in the BridgePad summary at the end of each round and on the Scrolling Results screen.

Q. Is there somewhere where I can practise using the BridgePad before using it at a match?

A. Yes click on this link and a ScorePad simulator will appear that you can practise on. Bridge Scorer Simulator
