Members section FAQs

Q. What is in the ‘For club members’ section?

A. It contains account information for members that include an email address, and a contact phone number. This is so that the club or club members can contact you, or you can contact other members. Your SBU number and Club ID number are included for use in external and internal events and as an aide-memoir, should you forget them! It also contains requests for partners, other messages, club event photos and the club newsletters that the committee believe should only be available to members.

Your account information includes a physical address, which is only visible to you and the Club secretary and web administrator to maintain club records, not to other members. Some of the information is used by Scorebridge, as the website member database is periodically synchronised with ScoreBridge to ensure accurate scoring.

Q. How do I get into the ‘For club members’ section?

A. Click on the ‘For club members’ menu option on the left side of the website home page. You will be sent to a new page for a Members Only login for Helensburgh Bridge Club. Enter your email address. If this is the first time you have entered this section, then leave the password section blank. Click on the ‘Forgotten password’ button and a password will be generated by the system and sent by email to the email address you have just entered. Retrieve the password from your email and return to the login page. Re-enter your email address and your new password. Note that you can use this to send yourself a new password should you forget your current password in the future.

Q. Is this password system secure?

A. Yes. The system will only generate passwords for members who have registered an email address with the club. No email address, or an email address from a non-member means that no password will be issued. The password system is managed by Bridgewebs, who generate the initial password for your member account. You can change it afterwards to something more memorable for you.

Q. The system generated password is hard to remember. Can I change it?

A. Yes. Login in the normal way. Go to ‘Account’ where you will see your account information. At the bottom of the page enter a new password in the first box and repeat in the second box, The password should be between 6-20 characters, using A-Z, a-z, 0-9 -_.%:$ characters only. Above all, it should be memorable for you! Please check and update your account information at this time.

Q. Can I download results and hand information from this section?

A. Yes you can download results from here. Login and go to ‘Download’ section. You have a choice of downloading the results information as a HTML (Webpage) or a .dat file. Select ‘Web page’ and enter your email address, and then select from the list any of the previous events you want to see results for.Note that these can also be seen and printed in the ‘Club Results’ section of the website. The .dat file option is used by the scorers (John, Andrew, Peter) to update the computers used for scoring tournaments.

If you want to download hand information in Portable Bridge Notation format (.pbn) to play on a suitable PC program (such as Bridge Baron), then go to the ‘Club results’ section. Click on the event you want hand information for. Then click on the ‘Hands’ tab (just under the Helensburgh Bridge Club label at the top of the page). Go to ‘If you have PC software that allows you to replay hands and it supports .PBN format, then enter your email and send yourself a copy of the Hand File’ and enter your email address and click ‘Send’.

Good eh!
