There are 2 new initiatives from the CBN - for details please see Home Page

The 2 Alex's Play in the European U19 in Croatia
Alex Roberts played in the European U-19 pairs in Croatia with his England partner, Tommy Brass.  Of 44 pairs, they were 14th in qualifying for the semi-final, then just qualified for the final, with the lowest carry-forward score
In the final, they rose to finish 7th, by far the best performance by a UK pair at either U-19, U-25 or Girls championships.   Alex Mitchell played in the same event, narrowly missing 43rd place in the qualifier, but rising to finish around midway in the consolation event on finals day.

Alex Mitchell and his partner, Rhys Horlock, a fellow member of the EBU U25 squad, won the EBU Easter Congress U19 pairs with a remarkable 71%

Two of our other junior members, Frazer Cooke and Will Yeong, were a creditable 7th with just over 50%.

At Hartford, near Northwich in Cheshire, we play duplicate bridge in a friendly but competitive way. We have evening and afternoon sessions run by TDs whose objective is to help everyone to have an enjoyable time amongst good company. We welcome all ages having members with ages ranging from 12 to over 90 and we can offer teaching, through Tony Pickering, to those who are not yet ready to join in a full duplicate session.

The clubhouse has a private, lit car park with disabled parking and provides refreshments with a bar and hot/cold soft drinks.

By prior arrangement we can usually arrange a partner and welcome visitors whether passing or local.

TASTER TRAINING FOR NEW PLAYERS
TASTER TRAINING FOR NEW PLAYERS

If you know anyone who would like to find out whether they would like to learn how to play bridge, The Cheshire Bridge Network is organising a 10 week taster course starting in October. It will be run by an EBU qualified teacher and will be held in the Kingsley area. The cost will be £5 per session but the first 4 will be free so as to encourage people to give it a go.

This is not comprehensive training which takes rather longer than 10 weeks but is designed to encourage new players to find out whether they like the game without the costs of a full adult education college fee.

If you know of anyone who would like to take part please let me know - we need to have a viable number to take up the offer in order to proceed.
