Members Page - Release 2.15
-
A members only section is now available for review. If you would like to try this out please let me know and I will switch it on for you. This will be restricted to the first 5 clubs that request it for the initial period while teething problems are ironed out.
-
This "Members Only" section has 3 pages.
-
A Messages page allowing members to enter and view messages, such as "I am looking for a partner for next week".
-
A "Members Only" News page
-
The "List of Members" page, but, hidden behind the login and not available to the general public.
-
The way it works is that there is an additional "Members Only" password that you can set up and give to your club members, i.e. word of mouth. Then the members can register to use the "Members Only" section through the web site, by entering their Name, email and password and using this "Members Only" password the first time they register.
-
If you change the "Members Only" password, then all registered members will be able to continue using their own passwords, but new users will need the new password.
-

If you use the "Automatic ScoreBridge Upload" the name of the scorer will upload and show on the "Rank" page of the results. In addition, you can also amend/add the Scorer directly from Web Administration. This works in a similar fashion to the Host & Director.
-
If you use Bridgemate, have a computer at the Bridge Centre or simply prefer not to show the scorer, you can turn off this feature in the "Web Administration" - "Site Options".
-

-
News Items - Left Message Box - Release 2.15
-
You can now have a message box on the left as well as the right. This appears on the home page under the bulletin.
-
The bulletin can be used to show something very important that appears on every page. The left message box will only show on the home page, your choice which to use or both.
-
News Items - Links - Release 2.15
-
Where a Web Address etc. is entered for a news item, hovering over the text detail will highlight and then the user can click the text to invoke the link rather than just being available on the title. This means that you can change the text to "Click this box for details" etc. rather than "Click on the title for details".
-
Note, this feature is turned off if any links are detected in the text. You may want to review these and use the bridgewebs feature instead.
-
Example, click here to go to BridgeWebs Home page

-
The "Template Style" and "Options" option had been extended and needed to be used properly in conjunction with one another. The replacements are more specific and each can apply to any page.
-
The "Page Colour" option was introduced about 6 months ago and has proved very popular with some clubs but a bit limited and again confusing with some of the other options. This has been replaced with a "Theme" (see separate information)
-
News Items - Summary Page - Release 2.15
-
For new users of bridgewebs understanding how the "Home" and other "News" pages are built can be confusing, often ending up with using just 1 news item per page when more would be easier.
-
So, now, when you want to amend a "News" page, the system takes you to a summary of the "Items" on the page looking somewhat similar to what it looks like when created and you can choose which item to amend or whether to add a new item.
-
It is hoped this might make it clearer and easier to amend the "News" pages. Feedback would be useful.
-
News Items - Themes - Release 2.15
-
The "Page Colour" option was introduced about 6 months ago and has proved very popular with some clubs but a bit limited and again confusing with some of the other options. This has been replaced with a "Theme" with more features.
-
Some clubs have also been using "blank" titles to create extra effects on their pages, because the title was in a standard font. The format of the title can now be adjusted in a theme.
-
On using "Release 2.15" for the first time, the system will automatically build themes from all the options that you have used before for each page and create a theme to show a page in the same format as before (there may be slight variations). You may then need to adjust them. Also, it automatically creates themes for the "Template Styles" - "Centred", "Boxed" and "Indexed".
-
The advantage of the themes over the "Page Colour" is you can now adjust the box round the whole page, the "News Item", the title or "News Item" detail and this gives much more flexibility, together with the facility to choose the Font and Font Size for the "Title" and "News Item". Thus you can get more consistency over the style.
-
Player File - Release 2.15
-
The system now has a separate record of all the players in the results files. When you upload the player file, it will update the information, such as the join date according to the player file uploaded. If you upload the player file another time, it will do the same, BUT, for any no longer on the player file, it will give them a "Leave" date at the time that you upload the player file. IN theory, this should mean that the member status within a competition should be preserved and the competition result remain as is.
-
Additionally, competitions, are now ONLY updated when the Competition itself is changed or an event used in the competition is uploaded.
-
Recording Contracts in ScoreBridge - Release 2.15
-
Most clubs score results by simply entering the NS or EW Score 420 etc. Several clubs now use Bridgemates which automatically scores from the contracts entered. Some of you enter the contract and let ScoreBridge calculate the score and then you double check to the Traveller.
-
If you enter the contract, then, for ease of entering results, ScoreBridge allows you to enter the contracts without needing to use the shift key e.g. 4h becomes 4H. It also allows you to enter 3N instead of 3NT. For doubles you can enter x instead of *, and redoubles, you can use xx instead of **. (An x is quicker to enter than shift 8). And for passed out, you can enter PASS instead of PASSED.
-
BridgeWebs now tidies the contracts up and shows them in the same way, for example, 3Nx as 3NT*, PASS as Passed Out etc. This is also left aligned for ease of reading.
-
If you find any problems with this presentation please email gwynne@bridgewebs.com.
-

-
The message "Click on the pair names to show the scorecard for that pair." now only shows if the name is clickable.
-
Results Only on Results Page - Release 2.15a
-
Results Page - Release 2.15
-
When you first use Release 2.15, a new feature which will automatically come into play for clubs who have been entering results for more than a year. The Results will only show the last years results and a "Next Page" and "Previous Page" can be used to see more. You may need to adjust this depending on the number of events that you upload each week. You will need to go to "Web Administration" - "Calendar" - "Options".
-
Scorer & Director - Release 2.15a
-
In conjunction with Scorebridge, there is now a facility to enter the Scorer & Director in ScoreBridge when you create a new event. You will need to go to "Club" - "Preferences" - "Event File Preferences" and tick to allow you to enter the Scorer & Director and enter defaults as necessary, then when you create a new event you can modify as necessary.
-
If entered these will be added to the BridgeWebs calendar.
-
Show Hand Description above Hand - Release 2.15a
-
An option is provided in "Settings" - "Site Options" to show the "Deal File" description above the hand. This can be used to verify that the right deal file has been uploaded to the event.
