1. The name of the Club shall be Groomsport Bridge Club.
2. The Club shall provide facilities for playing Contract Bridge and it shall not be affiliated to the Northern Ireland Bridge Union.
3. The Officers of the Club shall be: The President, Vice-President, Hon. Secretary, Hon. Treasurer and Chief Tournament Director. The Committee shall comprise of the officers, the Past President and two further Comittee members.
4. The Committee shall have the power to :-
(a) Conduct the affairs of the Club.
(b) Control and manage the finances of the Club.
(c) Elect new members, who shall be nominated by two existing members of at least one year's standing.
(d) Fill, by co-option, any vacancy among the Officers and the Committee. Such co-opted members shall hold office until the next Annual General Meeting.
5. Subscriptions shall be paid by May 31st. This can be extended in special circumstnces.
6. The Financial Year shall commence on April 1st each year.
7. The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held in the month of April each year. At least 21 days notice of the time, date and venue shall be given to members. Notice of motions proposed and seconded shall be submitted to the Secretary in writing at least two weeks before the meeting. One third of members shall form a quorum. An audited statement of accounts shall be presented to the Meeting, together with a report of the Club's activities for the year. The Meeting shall elect the Officers and Committee members for the coming year together with an Auditor. Voting shall be by a show of hands unless agreed otherwise by the Meeting.
8. Candidates for membership must attend as visitors three times before being nominated for membership by two members of at least one year's standing. The application will be displayed at three Club meetings, following which the Committee will then determine the application by secret ballot and the result conveyed to the applicant by the Secretary. The reason for the decision need not necessarily be given. Candidates who have been approved by the Committee but are unable to become members due to a full membership list can play as visitors unrestricted by the above.
9. The Club may be dissolved only by a majority of two-thirds of the total members of the Club voting at an Annual General Meeting or an Extraordinary General Meeting. The net assets of the Club will then be divided among the members in proportion to their years of paid-up membership.
10. The Entrance Fee, Annual Subscription, and Table Money will be set by the Committee. The Annual Subscription will be charged on a pro-rata basis for those joining during the year.
11. These Rules may be amended by a majority of two thirds of those voting at an Annual General Meeting or an Extraordinary General Meeting.
