Preparing for play
Preparing for play Could we politely remind members that, where possible, it is a great help if they can arrive by about 6.45 on Mondays so that play can start promptly at 7.00.  This gives the director time to organise the movement and prepare the tables.  It is fully appreciated that work, buses, unforseen circumstances etc can make people late, and this is no problem at all, but if you can, then an early arrival helps.  Many thanks.

We are also grateful to SBU Highland for grant aid received

League Success for Grantown!

Wednesday 4th March saw our team playng its last fixture for the season knowing that a win would result in a first place finish.

A flying start was made, with a lead of 37 IMPs after the first 6 boards were completed.  10 IMPs were added at the end of the second set of boards, and our team ate a very tasty afternoon tea with the heady scent of victory providing extra spice.  After tea our familiar slight sleepiness took hold, and the next six boards saw us add only a further 4 IMPs, and nervousness began to affect our play.

The final set of six boards produced a loss of 14 IMPS, and it was a relieved captain who declared the final score - a win of 9 - 3 over our gracious hosts from Kelsey.

This result means that Grantown has topped Division 3 by 5 points from second-placed Kelsey, and should have the dubious pleasure of playing in Division 2 next season.

Well done to all who played their part in our best league performance to date!
