  Evening Ladies' and Gentlemen's Pairs

2023/24 Season (26 October 2023) - Winners:
      Ladies (Corben Cup):              Rosiah & Enid (62%).
      Gentlemens (Silk Cup):           Phil & Stewart H (62%)

(First time for a while that there were enough entries for the Ladies').

2022/23 Season:  Gentlemens:     Simon & John (60%)
2021/22 Season:  Gentlemens: Rahim & Phil.

A single Thursday evening competition of Match Pointed Pairs, open to same-sex and mixed-sex pairs.
The Ladies' and Gentlemen's pairs trophies will be awarded to the highest ranked female and male pairs respectively (provided at least two pairs compete in a category).
If a winning pair includes a non-GBC member (ie. not a fully paid up member of the Club before play starts), the trophy will be awarded to the appropriate highest ranked pair that contains only GBC members.

(NB: You can play Pairs, regardless of whether you are competing for the trophies.)

  Afternoon Handicapped Pairs

2023/24: Won by Richard W & Julia H with 67.6%, with Joe N & Fizz M a close second on 66.4%.

2022/23: Won by Colleen & Stewart H with 61.15%.

(NB: Scores are those after the handicap was included.)

A series of Tuesday Afternoon sessions of Match Pointed Pairs, for the Allen Cup.  A pair must compete in at least five sessions to qualify, and all sessions count.
The trophy is awarded to the pair with the highest average handicapped percentage score. 

Handicapping is based on the EBU system and player's NGS grades.
If a winning pair includes a non-GBC member (ie. not a fully paid up member of the Club before play starts on the first round of the event), the cup will be awarded to the highest ranked pair that contains only GBC members.

  Evening Winter Pairs (Johnstone & Jubilee)

2022/23: John & Simon comfortably retain the Johnstone cup with 57.5%; Jeff & Jon N 51.8, Enid & Mike 51.7.
Enid & Mike comfortably win the Jubilee Bowl with a handicapped score of 56.7%; Bren & Alan 51.0%.

2021/22: Johnstone Cup won by John & Simon with an impressive 58.45%. Jubilee Bowl won by Veronica & Rahim with 56.89%.

A series of Thursday evening sessions of Match Pointed Pairs.  A pair must compete in a minimum of five sessions to qualify.
All scores will count towards a pairs' total score; in addition all pairs are ‘given’ one score of 50% at the start, to make the scoring system fairer for pairs who play more than the minimum number of five sessions.
The Johnstone Cup is awarded to the pair with the highest percentage score overall.
The Jubilee Bowl is awarded to the pair with the highest handicapped percentage score overall (discounting the winners of the Johnstone).
If a winning pair includes a non-GBC member (ie. not a fully paid up member of the Club before play starts on the first round of the event), the trophy will be awarded to the highest ranked pair that contains only GBC members.

  Summer Pairs (Afternoon/Evening)

Afternoon Handicapped Summer Pairs (a new competition from Summer 2023):
Stewart H. 53.51%, Colleen 50.64% (the only players with 5 scores with different partners).
(Dave Bebbington 53.30% on 3 scores.)

Evening Summer Pairs:
2022 - Not awarded as no-one played with 5 different partners.

Summer 2020 & Summer 2021 - Not held due to Covid.  Last won by John Stirrup in 2019.

A series of sessions of Match Pointed Pairs held over the summer.
The winner will be the individual who achieved the highest average of their best 5 percentage scores with different partners.  Afternoon pairs is handicapped.
If the highest scorer is not a GBC member (ie. not a fully paid up member of the Club before play starts), the trophy will be awarded to the highest ranked individual who is a GBC member.

(NB: You can play Pairs, regardless of whether you are competing for the trophy.)

  Evening Mixed Pairs

2022/23 Season (1st December 2022) - Winners: Mary & David with 54.17%

2021/22 Season (January 2022) - Winners: Rahim & Veronica with 66.67%.

A single Thursday evening session of Match Pointed Pairs open to same-sex or mixed-sex pairs.
The trophy will be awarded to the highest ranked mixed-sex pair.
If a winning pair includes a non-GBC member (ie. not a fully paid up member of the Club before play starts), the trophy will be awarded to the appropriate highest ranked mixed-sex pair that contains only GBC members.

  Evening Individual

2023/24: Won by Enid with 66.6%.  Held at the Party on 11/1/2024.

2022/23: Won by Jon N with 75%.  Held after AGM on 26/5/2023.

A single Thursday evening match pointed individual.
Awarded to the highest scoring Club member (fully paid up before play starts).

  Evening Teams

2022/23: Not held (was to have been a new Teams competition for Thursday Evenings 2022/23).

A single session Teams competition.
The competition will be held on the first of the allocated dates where there are whole tables.
(Allocated dates which are not used for this competition will be played as Pairs.)
The Director will allocate pairs to teams as he/she deems fit.
The trophy will be awarded to the team with the highest IMPs score.
If a winning team includes a non-GBC member (ie. not a fully paid up member of the Club before play starts), the trophy will be awarded to the highest ranked team that contains only GBC members.
