Christmas Decorations Needed

Fun and Games is in need of some Christmas decorations.  If you have some that you no longer want or need, we'll be happy take them off your hands.

We want to make our club look as festive as possible for the upcoming holiday parties, and your gently used items will really help us make it look nice.

Thank you!

Coffee Surprise

Effective October 6, 2016, there will no longer be a charge for coffee.  Shirley Garrity will be providing both regular and decaf coffee to our Club for your enjoyment.

What a generous thing to do!  Please thank Shirley when you see her at Club.
THANK YOU SHIRLEY

Fall Decorations

A big thank you to Jackie Hertweck who decorated the windows for us. They are so festive and remind us Fall is just around the corner.

Welcome!
Welcome!

Welcome to Fun and Games Duplicate Bridge Club!  As of July 1, 2016, we have moved into our new location in North Park Mall in northwest Oklahoma City.  As many of you know, North Park is located on the southeast corner of the intersection of NW 122nd and May Avenue.  It's best to come in the south entrance, near Shogun.  As you walk into the mall, you'll pass Shogun restaurant, then the Academy of Hair Design, and then the next storefront is Fun and Games.  It's directly across from The Shoe Gallery.

For those of you coming from out of town and who may be using GPS, our address is 11928 North May Avenue in Oklahoma City.  The ZIP code is 73120.  If you would like to call us, our phone number is (405)608-5300.

October is Jane Johnson Club Appreciation Month
October is Jane Johnson Club Appreciation Month

The month of October has been designated as Jane Johnson Club Appreciation Month by the ACBL.  Jane Johnson was the Membership Manager for the ACBL until her death in 2000.

In honor of her contributions, each club can have one Club Appreciation pair game and one team game per session.  These games pay extra points, but do not cost any extra money.

The ACBL also honors one employee at the main office and one director with a Jane Johnson award for giving great customer service annually.  The most recent director recipient was Scott Franklin, whom many of you may know from local tournaments.

Look for these special games on the October calendar and make plans to play!

Extra Team Games Offered in October

Fun and Games will be hosting three team games in October.

On Tuesday the 18th, Gloria Smith's 0-99 game will have a Jane Johnson Club Appreciation Team Game, beginning at 10:30 am.  Many of the players in this game played in their first team game in August, and several were overheard being very enthusiastic.  It promises to be lots of fun!

On October 20th, Jim Goza will direct another JJCA team event during his regular Thursday evening game at 6:30.  All who enjoy team games will want to be present.

Additionally, we will offer a club-wide GNT qualifying event on Saturday, October 29th, at 6:30 pm.  Jack Killough will be directing this game, and welcomes all who enjoy both team games and participating in ACBL-wide qualifying events.  Those who qualify at the club level can advance to the District and even the National level, where the winners earn BIG points.

Get your teams together and plan to take advantage of these opportunities!

Easybridge! is now a 0-20 Game!

Our newest group of bridge players is made up of some people who are very enthusiastic about our wonderful game.  They have survived their first four weeks and will have an actual game on October 4th.  Some of them will win master points, too!

Thanks to lots of help from Shirley Garrity, Tom and Jo Corbin, Lu Fountain, Paula Boone, George Francis, Jaci Finch, and Jan Lee, this has been a very successful venture.

Any 0-20 players at Fun and Games are welcome to attend these games; the cost is $8, with the mini-lesson and snacks included.  The lesson is at 6:30 pm, and the game begins about 7:00.  We will adjourn between 9:00 and 9:30, for the convenience of those who need to get to work the next morning.

Our Condolences

The members of Fun and Games Duplicate Bridge Club extend our deepest condolences to Phil and Judy Rea on the death of Phil's mother on September 26, 2016.  Interment will take place on Tuesday, October 4th, in Arizona, where she had lived for some time.  Joan Thorne will be directing Phil's games in his absence.
