| Brief History |
Ron Buddery, a retired Maths teacher, started teaching Bridge in the early 90's and as his classes flourished he moved to Framfield Church Hall and in 1996, with help from Norwyn Sharples, he founded the Framfield Bridge Club. Ron became the Club's first Director and was also elected a Life President and with his wife Margaret are still members today. The only other surviving member of Ron's classes still playing is Shirley Smith. Sydney Moss is also a long time member of the Club. The first Chairman in 1996 was Joyce Hogan. Subsequently Norwyn Sharple was Chairman from 2002 to 2005 and then Pauline Cole from 2005 until 2012 when she handed over to the current Chairman Gerald Makeham.
The Club has 3 trophies: The Joyce Hogan Plate - contested at the Christmas Party, the Buddery Bowl - contested at the AGM and a Most Improved Player trophy. The Club also takes part in annual competitions with other Clubs.
Over the years the Club has developed into a friendly, duplicate Bridge playing Club that meets on a Tuesday morning. We guarantee a partner for solo players. Either the Director will partner the solo player or he/she will be matched with another solo player and this is an aspect which visitors find very useful. New members are always welcome.
